So who uses COMC to sell cards? If so, tell me why I should

So you pay to ship the cards to them, pay a per-card fee to submit them, pay a storage fee per-card, pay shipping, pay PayPal fees and on top of all that, you have to pay them 20% of your sales to get your money? I'm just trying to understand the draw here, STRICTLY as a seller. I have no interest in flipping/trading on the site.

You pay shipping to COMC.
You pay ~$.20 per card that you submit.
You pay $.01 per card priced above $.25 on the first of every month.
You pay 20% cash-out fee.

You do NOT pay shipping to people who buy the cards. Once your card is sold, every penny that you had priced the card for goes directly into your COMC credit account. With that credit you either buy more cards (that you can keep in your inventory to be shipped back to you in bulk or you can relist them at a higher price) or cash-out for the 20% fee. When you get that cash-out payment, I could see there being a one-time Paypal fee, but I've never cashed out.

So the only thing you aren't paying is the shipping. With all these fees, I'm not really seeing how this is a better option than eBay.

also take into consideration, that now ebay includes your shipping cost into final value fee for each auction. Also with COMC, you dont need to buy any more top loaders, bubble mailers, printer ink if you use paypal shipping, gas to go back and forth to the post office, and time spent on listing and packaging everything.

At first the fees might seem steep, but the more you sell on ebay, the quicker it will catch up with the single card sales fees.

If it's .20¢ per card to submit, how the hell are people selling cards for under .25¢

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't understand the math either.

before they starting getting really popular, the fee was as low as 10 cents a card. Since there is no fees you can let the card sit there at .25 cents and when it sells make 10 or 15 cents profit off it. Sell 100 of those cards you make $15. I have hundreds of cards at .15 or .20 cents on the site not to make a profit, but to bring in buyers. lots of buyers will search for lowest priced cards in which they can flip. they will look throughout my inventory and sometimes they will find something in there that the wouldnt have. Its kinda like advertising...

eBay regular store fees is $16 month plus 20 cents a listing
Premium store Is $50 a month plus 5cents a listing
Plus 15% (eBay fvf +paypal fees of items below $25) of sold items.

best advice i can give you now is to sign up and possibly put in $5 or $10 in COMC account. Go find some cards on the site that you think you can resell. Go submit a few offers on some cards just to get them into your account. Play around with pricing and see how you like it. If you dont know it youll be out a few dollars, but at least you didnt waste more money sending in your cards.

I have read all the responses, and here is what I take from it:

COMC is not a smart move for anyone strictly selling. If you want to use it to sell cards, and buy other cards with that money-it may not be a bad site. For me, I am mainly looking to sell.

So they are running a "special" for $78 to submit 500 cards. That is a little over $0.15 per card, plus you pay to ship them there, which would be around $5-$7 I'd assume. Using $7 shipping cost, that is $0.17 per card. So, say you price them at $0.25(which doesn't sound like a guaranteed sell at that price), you make $0.08 per card. If you want to be competitive, and price them at, say, $0.20 ea-you make $0.03 per card. It just doesn't seem like a wise move if you ask me. When I think of $0.25 cards, I think of base cards, or Topps inserts.

Selling anything on eBay for $1 is a huge mistake, so I agree with that. Paypal takes out something like $0.30, plus 3-4%, so a $1 sale just doesn't make sense at all. So for me, I only sell things that are $3 or higher on eBay, otherwise it's not worth the time to list, etc.

I think when it boils down to it, the lure of COMC doing everything for you just isn't worth the cost, not even close if you ask me. Anything higher than $3 you can sell on eBay with more potential buyers, so a potential to sell at a higher price most likely. As nice as COMC would be, to just get rid of a crap ton of cards, it doesn't make sense one bit for me.

Not saying that is the case for everyone, but that site seems to be pretty "hyped".

I am a seller and love the site. The large majority of the stuff I send in is stuff that I can't move on ebay. On top of that, my time is worth money, plus they cut out a lot of headaches. Yes, they do charge a storage fee of .01 per card(that is more than .25) and if the card has been in your account for over 90 days. I move most of my stuff so fast I don't get hit up much in storage fees. The over good thing is you can reduce your fees by cashing in for a Blowout gift card. I save all hot cards for ebay though.

Here are my stats
Almost $121,000(Book value) in sales
Items in Inventory 4,090
Total Book Value $38,194.10
Total Asking Price $12,075.03
Total Sales $26,190.95
Items Sold 13,709
Items Added to the Site 17,763

So what would be the average price of the cards you sell on COMC? I'm getting very intrigued about COMC and will likely try to sell off some stuff there. Sounds like a good way for me to get rid of my low-end ($1-10) and possibly upgrade to nicer stuff or even Blowout certificates.

I looked into dropping my Beckett store and moving it all to COMC and it would cost me 1410 if it were a penny a card/month so lets cut that in half saying half of my stuff can be priced under a quarter. 700 a month  I would definitely do it if they put a cap on the storage fee. Something like 300 a month should do just fine for bulk sellers like myself. On top of that 700 to cash out it would be 20% of sales which my current asking price in my store is $133,112.03. Just doesn't make sense to me.

All of the above does not include the 20 cents per card to list right away either

Average price of the cards I have left is around $3.50. I've lowered the prices a few times just to try and move them and buy more stuff, so it was probably closer to $5 a card when I first sent them in. A lot of what I sell isn't really geared to making big money; a lot of late 90's inserts, some low serial #'d commons, and a decent amount of good, current cards that tend to sell pretty quickly.

More important to me is that I've sold 67 cards that I didn't want, and turned them into 543 cards that I did want.

Here are my starts:

Items in Inventory 1,011
Total Book Value $7,728.20
Total Asking Price $3,608.73
Total Sales $8,214.14
Items Sold 3,966
Items Purchased 329
Items Added to the Site 4,785

I think the big draw for me is being able to move items that won't sell on ebay. I have the best luck with numbered inserts and cheap autos and game used. I don't really mind the listing fee or the cash out fee because COMC does all the work for me. I absolutely hate listing stuff on ebay so I would rather lose out on a little extra profit to not have to waste all that time listing stuff. I also try to avoid cashing out by buying higher end cards for what I think are good prices, shipping them to me and then selling them on ebay.

Also if anyone wants to check out my cards here's the link:

I'm always open to offers.

Your philosophy of not cashing out, buying expensive cards, and selling them on eBay is exactly what I thought about doing. Looks like when I go to the card show this weekend, I may look for some cheap stuff that I think will sell on COMC so I can send it in with all my other stuff.

bubba starling/mccullers dual auto /25
felix hernandez bowman chrome refractor auto rc

i was able to buy all this stuff from cards i didnt want or had any interest in. Of course i sold the harper, felix, quad auto and made $100+ profit on it on COMC.

I'm always open to offers.

This is the main reason I love the site. I'm more than willing to pay the little extra fees b/c I don't have to do jack **** after I send them off to Washington. I've saved soooooooo many hours in the past 6 months.

Besides, I haven't cashed out yet so the 20% hasn't hit me yet. I keep buying cards for the PC or other cards to flip and sell for profit.

COMC is a great site.

also i love the option that you, as a buyer, can add a whole bunch of cards from one seller and make an offer as a lot.

as a seller, im more willing to give a better deal if buyers are willing to take more cards off my hands.
