Griffey's was a buy back, So i don't think that's really fair in this discussion, otherwise every single card auto'd after the fact is elligible.

With Jeter, 97 Bowman and 97 bowman's best, and a good 4 years after his rookie. If you want to talk Jeter's first autos, i'd talk about them, but the bowman's came out after he was already a household name.

They were randomly inserted into packs in 1999, so it's just like if you inserted mantle autographed topps cards now, they're not really rookie autos, they're more like certified TTM cards.

In Cabrerra's case, he has royal rookies, (cheap looking and common) in the same year as the Topps Traded, so most collectors completely ignore the Royal Rookies.

However a guy like Jeter has 5 years between his first auto, and his first Name brand auto, so for ME, the earlier auto is intriguing.

Just like 2006 Just Jesus Monteros, vs 2006 Just Evan Longoria Autos.

The Monteros are 2 years older than his chromes, whereas, Longorias chrome debut was the same year, so who cares about the Just cards.

For Traded though, Miggy is first going to be 26 next season, meaning he could be around for a really long time. For me the most likely player is Alfonso Soriano who will be 33 next season. With close to 300 career homers and SB's and coming off a shortened but highly productive season, I think he has a decent shot at the Hall, and would likely be the first one retiring who has a shot.

IMO..Soriano has 0% shot at the hall.

Mind if I ask why? Not saying he is there yet (or will ever be) but he's been pretty impressive:

7 time (straight) AS
4 Silver Slugger's
270 homers
248 SB's
40/40 season
.282 BA

With a few more solid seasons I think he has a compelling argument, especially since he started at 2nd base, and was a real force at the plate, even while playing in the infield.

I don't know why people always disregard Adam Dunn. Yes, he K's frequently (though he has been bringing this number down each season), his average isn't high (his career avg is .247), and he's not the best defensively (his career FP is .974). So he won't win a GG, but his K's are going down and it is quite possible that since he is showing more patience (he led the NL in walks in 2008) that his batting average could rise some.

If he can stay healthy (always the big if) and continue his current pace, he will put up solid numbers. If he plays only 8 more seasons, he would be 37 and his numbers could look like this:

1300+ Runs, 2000 Hits, 400+ 2Bs, 75 3Bs, 550+ HRs, 1300+ RBIs, 1500+ BBs

He might even be able to break 100 SBs. I know that's not much, but for a guy of his size, that's pretty cool. He also has a career OBP of .381.

I think Adam Dunn could seriously have a shot at the HOF if he continues his current pace. You can almost write the guy in for 40 HRs, 100 RBIs, 80+ Runs, 100+ BBs, and an OBP of .350+. That's solid production.
