So You Want to be a Online Group Case Breaker...

I do, actually. So my question is this - What's the best way to go about it, from a business standpoint? I can see Ebay isn't the way to go. Youtube? Website? I have the technology, an established brick/mortar store where people could actually come in & watch the breaks, big direct accounts with all the companies etc. How should a startup case breaker build his reputation & gain a following? Who are the top breakers & where can watch their breaks & see how they operate? Many thanks guys!

Start small, build a reputation and a following, there is no 'quick start' guide. But obviously use the tools available, website is good, quality video of breaks, quick shipping and good packaging, reasonable prices, and a customer friendly demeanor.

As Joe mentioned, the biggest issue is the amount of people doing it. Just about everyone doing it has access to the same products you do, we all have access to the internet, a computer, cameras, etc. The people who have made it, and are making are trustworthy, have a following, do things to separate themselves from others, are innovative, and competitive. If you are going to do the same exact thing as everyone else, why would a consumer come over with you than their current breaker? Just a way to view it. LCB, Mojo, Cardsmiths, Firehand, Ripkings, Layton, Boomo, is probably where you want to start.

Clearly having a store and people who purchase off of you already is a good start. I'd echo what others said - do your research and try and be creative and offer something others done, whether a give-away or free spot or entertaining break, or something. You have to be able to answer the question "Why would someone break with me, over the 100 others guys doing it today"

Be unique but be logical. I love Chads breaks because there is usually a couple guys with him helping break and good banter going on.

Like everyone has said, do your research but be unique so folks will want to get in your breaks.

I have surfed alot of breaks & believe CardsmithsBreaks has the best all-around product. Best sound & video quality, best website as far as tech goes, best on-cam presentation & interaction, best core group of buyers (regulars), etc etc. The GB's that have more than 1 person doing the breaks detracts from the chatroom experience i've found.


I think people don't fully realize case breaking is mainly a social experience/service. You're paying to be part of a group & enjoy a few hours just having fun together & interacting. If you're paying a guy a premium abov retail to just open your boxes/cases for you, you're doing it wrong. CSB opens one pack at a time and is constantly carrying on a conversation with the chatroom. Other breakers open all the boxes & packs in one go like it's a timed event. Just my opinion though, to each their own.
