Collectors got greedy on this. Topps owed you all nothing and they came through with
that. Lick your wounds and go on.

Topps needs to put much longer odds on wrappers, so everyone and their brother isn't emailing them looking for missing hits. I would guess they are much better than what they are printing.

Orange and purple are retail only

Odds are accurate based on early breaks

Kevin... Collectors got gready? Or did Topps? They owed a product worthy of our money and what was advertised. I haven't know you long on this board but have read much negative criticism from you. I have learned you have strong about each release which is fine and dandy but I ask for you not to be so hard. Licking wounds is fine but personally I could lose as much as $8k-$10k on this. I bust topps regardless of content or checklist for years but have come to expect them to do right and fulfill but the latter half of this year has been rough.
I have helped you on many Heritage releases in the past and will continue but try to be a touch more sympathic for the rest of us, lol.

PS- this has heritage in it, so you should at least like it. Lol. (even at tougher insertion rates)

Oh. Forgot xfractors. They too are retail only.
It's a shame that Topps could add some of these of more colors into hobby.

Topps crapped red ref by numbering them to 25 and now they have done the same to orange by making them common.

Any chance the orange is actually copper like football?

The red ref in Topps chrome has been /25 for awhile now. Still /5 in the Bowman lines.

As much as I would like to blame Topps for this, and oh have they done a "bang up" job this year ::facepalm:: its everyones fault but no one is actually "wrong."

Cant blame Topps for cranking the presses and collectors/ dealers cant be blamed for ordering case after case after case. Afterall, we all saw what happened to Bowman and didnt feel like being caught off guard with this chrome product.

And the orders went in before he got hurt.

Part of me thinks that the quantity will kill the box prices in a few weeks but the other part thinks itll hold because theres shat out there to buy that isnt made of 1950's quality paper or under $50 per pack.

Agreed. As I mentioned this earlier. Just as much our fault for sure or no one as you said. But Topps could have made the insert checklists bigger or added a&g chromes. Or some new refractors etc.
The wrappers are an attempt. And them offering to buy back some cases too. So they too realize the over supply and will hopefully not crank out too much going forward but I have a bad feeling about upcoming Bowman lines.
Box prices have been well below cost for some time as low as $45 per which is crazy. But heavy supply and low demand.

Actually we have never dealt on heritage or anything else, you sell them too quick for me, but
I understand that you have to do this, but why did you think topps chrome baseball was going to be any different than how it was the previous years? It has always been a dog.

You are right it isn't fair for me to think it is right to lose all that money, I can only imagine
that sucks, but when people blindly pre buy then topps just feels like they can cut major
corners. Its a tough call, I know you have to get in early to get the great prices, or wait
and see if its good and then have to pay ginter prices, but sooner or later you are going
to get burned. Topps has done a great job, but I would be willing to get that most products
are selling for at or around cost right now.

and the heritage part of this set doesn't interest me at all. Didn't topps learn anything
about mixing heritage and other crap?

You got royally screwed on ginter, Im not sure why you thought chrome would make up for
that.

Kevin I meant in the info that I share early on with you.
But anyhow back to Topps and Chrome.
There's many factors here that you are not considering.
First that I have busted lots of Topps for many years. Chrome is not one if their strongest but I get in products at prices few can and in qty that others don't. If this would have been last years Chrome or close to it then it would have been very good actually. That's the problem. I can take a production increase but 4x over one year is a tad too much. Topps should have more pride in the product they release.
If I lock in early or late matters not as I get the same prices regardless even if on release. But my supplier knows I already want it before the info comes out. He just tells me the price and I take as much as I want.
I do plan to cut back on some of thier products next year but I have too
many customers expecting these products even T206 from me and my offline sales, good pricing, rare items, and hard to make sets all add up.

Anyhow. Just saying not every product is a good one but there are many factors and many ways to skin a cat.

Lol. They wont give you $750 or close. They were offering to buy back distributor cases a week or two back just from large distributors at cost, which basically means they wouldn't charge them as they hadn't been charged since it hadn't been released. At least that is what some distributors have said.
You can always ask your distributor for better pricing or cancel your order. I just can't since I have my buyers and don't want to dump it all back on the distributor. Not his fault and he has always helped me. Win some lose some. Just wish it would be a more fun break with tons of color like years past.

not paying seems like a really bad thing to do even though i have only been buying from these guys for this year. i would be pissed if someone did that to me. i will just suck it up. i am probably going to be stopping all the busting anyway after bowman chrome this year. (which i am sure i got burned on too) i just find the fun ROI vs.the time invested.

Yep not paying isn't right. Distributors get hurt too. I think Atlanta Cards has had more cancel on TC and BC due to the high prices them they have buying them at this point.
It's like nothing ever before. Just like Bowman has amazing like nothing in a long time this is now the opposite. The perfect storm as many called it has now swallowed up it's victims. Lol.
But good lesson to remember when Harper or someone else comes along. Even if healthy and selling, it'll all lead to cranked presses. So it washes out.
