He lost his slider and a ton of velocity. He's either injured or just sucks. My guess is injured. I never thought he'd be a consistently good pitcher, but even I didn't expect this.

There was a good analysis done regarding the complete loss of his slider. I'll try to find it.

EDIT: Found it. From Fangraphs: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/scott-kazmir-is-buste

You are kidding right? Not only has he completely been sucking, his 1st innings have been horrible. He also walks too many and has a decling K rate.

I personally don't think he is injured, but I am sure TB will find an injury real soon. If nothing else, a reason to take him out of the rotation for a few weeks. Maybe the time off will allow him to get his head straight and work on mechanics. Even then, I doubt it will help his drop in velocity.

Every pitcher in the rotation has lost a few MPH this season. Some are blaming the little work they received in the Spring and have noted that it took Shields, etc. up until this point in the season to start looking comfortable out there. Not sure what it is but the rotation with the exception of Garza has looked average at best.

Young pitchers will break your heart.

The Rays received a tremendous amount of good fortune from their rotation last year. They were bound to suffer from a bit of a wake up call this year.

The White Sox had a rotation of veterans that were pitching complete games the whole postseason. The Rays have a young rotation with no real similarity to them.
