Sox to potentially target Laporta?

Indians will be looking to move Victor Martinez by the end of this month.

I seriously doubt Victor is going anywhere, but I could be wrong. He's the best hitter on the team and if we had anyone that would be considered our captain it would be V-Mart. I would flip if we traded him. I also don't think LaPorta is going anywhere after we got the deal we did last year. However, I wouldn't be shocked to see Peralta go to the Sox or anyone for that matter.

I think he probably will though for 2 reasons, 1, they have Carlos Santana for next year, 2, they can get some very good pitchers/pitcher for him, and bullpen help on top of that.

I also see this, BECAUSE they have Carlos Santana V-Mart will be traded

Uggla would be a great pickup IF he was put in a good situation like
in St Louis batting second in front of the MAN however i really like Rasmus in the 2 hole but if the cardinals got uggla for duncan and khalil greene i would do it instantly

I think the plan has been to move him to a 1B/DH permanently to allow Shoppach and Santana to play. I don't know if keeping Ryan Garko is a priority and right now they have DeRosa playing out of position at first. Without Victor in the lineup there is no consistency whatsoever and you lose your captain. Plus, Shapiro always stresses that he loves Victor because he's the proudest of being an Indian and wears the jersey with pride. I just don't see Victor going before someone like Peralta, DeRosa, Garko, Shoppach, etc.

The BoSox have an answer at DH(A very cheap one at that) in Chris Carter. No reason he couldnt hold that spot on a daily basis and I would bet that he would be just as productive as LaPorta right now.

I don't have a problem trading Martinez for the right deal,but i wouldn't trade Laporta rightnow.I would like to see what teams would offer for Martinez?

i think his prices would go up a good amount if he were traded, although it seems unlikely. however, the indians do have a stacked farm system with laporta type players (mills, hodges, mcbride), so i could see it happening, but very unlikely.

Laporta i don't give a crap about. If we can get a proven player in return thats great. He is really not needed.
I don't think V-mart will be going any were unless we are idiots or the Sox throw a really nice offer. His price would be high with the season he is having.
