So it's my brother's first birthday tomorrow (Yes, I'm 24 and my Dad is 52 but he got remarried and decided to have 2 more kids, long story) and I decided to build his name out of letters from SP Authentic's By The Letter set. I first had planned on doing this for Christmas but it took longer to find the letters than I had thought. I was going to just do letters from random teams but then I decided to keep it to one team. I obviously wanted to do the Reds since that is my favorite team so I had to find a year where Reds players had all of the letters I needed and after some research I found out 2007 was the year I had to go with it. It also helped that I already had 2 letters in my collection.

I just got it back from the framer today, it cost me roughly $100 to get it framed (that is with their 50% off sale) and about $60-$70 for the letters. The "T" was the hardest to find and the last letter I needed. There were 2 listed on eBay both of Bronson Arroyo /10 for $80 from the same seller. Back around Christmas I asked how much he would be willing to sell one for and he said $40, more than I was willing to pay. So after a month or so I just decided to offer $20 and they accepted. I also decided to keep it to the players who are currently on the team or well know players (Josh Hamilton) so I didn't go after any of the scrubs in the set.

Here is the end result, I took the picture with my iPhone so sorry if it is not the greatest:

If you were wondering here are the letters:

K - Homer Bailey
O - Josh Hamilton
R - Bronson Arroyo
B - Jared Burton
E - Homer Bailey
T - Bronson Arroyo

Thanks for looking!

It was Michael's. I really didn't have time to explore any options and look around, I just needed to get it done in time for his birthday. I wasn't too thrilled on paying $100 for it but it came out really nice so I am happy as it is exactly what I had in mind when I started this project. I am not sure where I could have gotten it any cheaper.

Maybe Hobby Lobby? Idk, $100 at supposedly 50% off just seems ridiculous to me.

That looks amazing. Awesome idea.

For the record framing is crazy expensive. One of my old clients was a custom frame shop. $100 isn't too bad.

Great job OP, looks great, awesome present
I think it's an amazing piece, I just hate when people seemingly get screwed over on the cost of things...

Looks awesome! How did they have a K? Are the letters from last name, team name? Don't know much about them since Rickey was never included. Like the idea of keeping all one team. Awesome piece for when he gets older and is a die-hard Reds fan.

Supposed to be first, last names and city/team names. With that said, not sure how Homer Bailey would have a K unless Upper Deck was hooked on phonics....or they decided to be cute and the K means strikeout.

No, it's from "ROOKIE" and the Bronson Arroyo "T" is from "CINCINNATI".

Man, that is really awesome. Going with the 07 reds works well aesthetically, and the framing puts it over the top!
