speaking to NON-Rangers fans, what do you think of Rangers?

just trying to get a feel for what's out there in the baseball world and the hobby world. i think the RANGERS can go to the WORLD SERIES and actually win it because they match up with anyone who can come their way. what is your feel about the team from the hottest place on earth?

I'm a Rangers fan due to being friends with Teagarden and because they're the only team in Texas whose fans aren't obnoxious idiots. I'm far from a die hard fan but I'll root for them when I'm not rooting for the Rangers.

They're a fun team to watch. Always have been, with Raffy, Gonzalez, Irod, Greer, Blalock, etc in the past. They can explode for 16 runs in any game. Their pitching used to be a joke, but now they're legitimate contenders. Hell, there's two or three potential all stars on that team!

I can see them making a WS run.
I know they've historically sucked, but it's not like they have some dark cloud over their head like the Cubs. None of the players were even around in 1999.

Does anyone actually dislike the Rangers? I've never met anyone who does. Even Astros fans will root for the Rangers if they make the playoffs

Their starting pitching doesn't scare anyone (other than Lee). They have a great team ERA, but they walk a lot of hitters too (only Baltimore, Detroit, and Cleveland issue walks at a higher rate).

Their starters actually issue more walks as well (3.60 per 9 IP), and I think that is a big think in the playoffs, particularly in the AL.

They might be able to win a 5 game series, but a 7 game series requires a little more depth than I think they have.

they'v had hittin gthe past few years but their pitchers have sucked ass. in walks the GOAT, that would be nolan ryan. he came in and turned their pitching core around. no more of this faggy treatment to the pitchers. they get treated the way pitchers were treated back in the 70s, etc. just without a 4 man rotation. no more bellyaching when they pitch more than 5 innings, ryan has turned the whole team around into a winner. they wont make the WS this year, but next year they should (or at least be real close to it)

and yes lou brown, there a 2 or 3 potential all-stars on that team right now

What likely would have been a first round exit team became a legit contender with Cliff Lee in the mix. He's the most dangerous arm in baseball in a short series right now IMO.

thanks everyone for the great posts. yes, angels fans can post as well, even though they are going to have a little bias. but hey, if you are voicing your opinion, you will be able to tell if you are just hating or if you are speaking objectively.

this is great. it seems that not only rangers fans can see what the team has done this year, but hey, if they dont win it this year, watch out for the coming years with the prospects coming and waiting in the wings.

You have to give the Rangers credit they have taken advantage of a weak division and have hit the leather off the
ball. Haven't we all learned that anything can happen in the post season? You only have to put a 5 or 6 game streak
of great games together to get to the world series. You know Lee is going to be lights out, there is potentially 2
wins right there, you just need to get lucky somewhere else down the line and the Rangers can do that. The
key will be staying healthy. This has to be exciting in the DFW area, the Rangers have sucked for a long time.

wow, you must not have been watching last night. :lol: :lol: :lol: just kidding. i think the rangers can give the yankees or anyone in the majors a run for their money. nolan deserves more than some credit. once, ryan and daniels got together and started actually building this team together, i think we have a shot at competing every year. the rangers are on the rise and i think the wash, jd, ryan, and now chuck greenberg as well as all the investors will leave their stamp on the rangers when all is said and done because they have a goal, they stick to eat, and if something is out of wack, they have no problem in changing it for the better. this is something that i have been waiting for since i was 4 and i went to my first rangers game. and yes i do remember it. i enjoyed the times furing the late 90's but i had no problem defending the team when they were going through their lulls because i knew that this would come one day. GO RANGERS!!!!!!!

I love watching the Rangers, Vladimir Guerrero is and has always been my favorite baseball player. He brought a spark to this team that sort of ignited them it seemed. Though he hasn't been playing well lately his presence has helped that lineup immensely. I'll bet the Angels are sick that they let him walk in favor of the old Japanese dinosaur. IF...and that's a BIG BIG if they can stay healthy, meaning Kinsler, Hamilton, Guerrero, and Cruz that lineup is second to none. The problem is those guys I just named seem to be made of glass. I love their bullpen leading to Feliz and I like Feliz as closer. Their one weakness happens to be the area that allows most teams to go deep into the playoffs; their pitching. Cliff Lee doesn't even need to be mentioned, but after him it's as average as any staff you will ever see. I like Holland but Colby Lewis, Tommy Hunter, and especially Rich Harden cannot be counted on. Lewis and Hunter are pitching over their heads right now, Harden can't stay healthy and when he is healthy he cant make it through 4 innings without throwing 100 pitches. I like this team and my heart wants them to win but my head tells me they wont make it past the 2nd round of the playoffs. Just my honest opinion.

i think they have a plus bullpen and some guys that can really bang the ball. could do damage in the post season.
on a side note, i was at the homerun derby @ the old yankee stadium. i am at awe of the power of josh hamilton.
he hit balls off the back wall of the bleachers. never seen anyone do that. :shock:

Just waiting and hoping for a late season collapse/swoon/etc, though that doesn't seem likely to happen this year.

Everyone believes Josh is a superstar.

You have to give credit to the GM Jon Daniels for putting the team together I guess.

Hope Ron Washington gets an extension.

thanks to all for the input and we will have to wait and see what the rangers do. will they wilt in the heat, will they win the division and flunk out in the first round, will the contend in the playoffs and advance to the alcs, or could they just be the cinderella team of 2010. remember that alot of important baseball people around the league chose the rangers to finish dead last. i think they can win it all and i am enjoying the ride and i hope that this ride lasts forever, or if not at least a long time.

I always like when a new team injects itself into the mix. I don't know if they're World-Series-good yet, but this can definitely be a stepping stone to a regime change in the AL West. I'm hoping they do well.

thanks for the great post man, especially coming from an angels fan. i think that its tough to see a team winning and not letting up but rangers fans have seen the angels do it for so long, it just seems like its out turn. go rangers
