Well, you heard correctly. After a few spectacular years, and a lot of requests from dealers and collectors alike, The GBSCC has announced a June Shriner's show. No other show has a following like this one, and hopefully a spring show will be as big a hit as the annual fall show.

Sureshot promotions has a great line-up of autograph guests, especially considering it's the middle of the season. Where else will you see these guys together, aside from the ballpark? And yes, that is THE Jennie Finch on Sunday!

http://www.sureshotpromotions.com/events.aspx

All of the tables are sold out, which didn't take much effort. Most of the great dealers you have come to know will be there, as well as a bunch of great new ones.

Check out the GBSCC site for specifics and times.

Hope to see you there! Let me know who's going so that I can keep an eye out for you!

Thanks,

Sweet, i think i might make this my first trip to a show. I get back from school in Mid May and Wilmington is just under an hour from my house wish isn't too bad. Autographs are a bit out of my price range but maybe i'll get some way and look for some decent singles.

set up for years, there are good points and bad points. if you have the patience for little kids going thru your stacks and messing up everything, by all means enjoy. I just coudnt take it anymore, so i wont set up again. Ill be there trying to make deals though.

Is it "wrong" to take cards to sell even if you are not setting up or is it normal practice? I'm as much of a newbie to shows as possible

Bring whatever you want. trade and sell with whoever you can make a deal with. People do it all the time. Pretty much what a show is for.

Thanks,

Nice. I wasn't sure because people pay to set up tables but that is good to hear. I'll definitely bring some of my graded sox stuff and my other prospects.

hey sox, the people who set up do get miffed if you try and make deals with other customers, there are several at this show that are world class card guy sleazeballs. try and work deals with table guys 1st, if they balk then by all means deal with whoever you want.

Alright. I'll try to remember to make deals with the dealers first off. I probably won't bring too much, just depends on what I get back from BGS

I went to this show in November last year.. and honestly unless you are a vintage collector the show sucked. hardly anyone at the show had boxes of GU'ed to look through or boxes of inserts.. I walked out of the whole show without even finding one card to buy. Hell I bought supplies just to say I didn't go there for nothing at all. I didn't expect people to have cards of my guy in the display but I figured for sure someone would have bargain bins of GU'ed and inserts that would contain cards of my guy. I've had more luck at the Mansfield show believe it or not.

Not a high end or vintage collector, but since it's not that far away, i'll probably just go to see if I can find anything. I mean I can always use supplies and there are no card shops near me so at least i hope to get some of those, lol

there was a dealer that had Mickey Mantle rookies by the dozen in his display case in November. he also had so many tobacco cards I was kind of in awe as to how much he had tied up in in his display cases.. it was more like a vintage museum than a card show.. I saw tons of people walking around with nothing in their hands just like myself. I was there hoping to knock off anything from my player collector list and was more than ready to search the bargain bins where I expected to find GU'ed, low end Auto's or nice inserts but there just wasn't anything like that to be had there really. I was also looking for rarer inserts in general that I knew I could help out other player collectors with but couldn't even find anything like that at the show.

Did I see that correctly? 99.00 for an autograph on a ball? Is that a normal price? Seems like you could get something at a better price elsewhere with a reputable COA as well. I still may check it out though. Is is close to Fenway?

Autograph pricing has been shooting up since the late 80's due to a lot of things.

It's almost comical that you can go to a show where Cal Ripken is signing for $175, and walk around the same show and find Cal Ripken signed baseballs for $100. 20 years ago it was not nearly the business it is now, and players would actually have the time to talk and take a photograph with you...now they are an assembly line mentality, rarely looking up.
