I didn't get to catch it because I was out of the room for most of it, but...

Did one of the Red Wings try to take out Malkin (Kronwall I believe)? It looked like he jumped in the air and almost put a thigh into Malkin's face. Or did I just come in and see the wrong point if anybody knows what I'm talking about?

he sure did. I think all the runs Ovechkin has taken at Malkin may have helped him learn to be more alert to players trying to take him out. so thanks Ovie :D .

Thought so. I hope somebody takes him out the next game. Maybe that his in the Chicago series wasn't clean. Actually, I hope he and Hossa collide into each other...hard.

Looks like Ovie was good for something after all...too bad it wasn't something that benefited his own team, lol.

Kronwall's attempt was not very clean, but what Cooke did after the whistle was just as bad, if not worse going at the head with an elbow after the play.

I agree 100% and I stated that I couldn't believe Cooke got away with his elbow in an earlier post. I am just glad Kronwall didn't connect.

I'm sick so I'll be bundles up on my couch watching instead of going out.

Note to self - don't wear shorts and a cutoff while being outside at 10 PM - 3 AM in southeast PA...it's not summer yet.

I do find it very convenient the NHL overturned the Instigator on him.

The NBA is not going to suspend a star, even if it's deserved. Same as they didn't suspent Ovechkin for his knee to knee. They also wouldn't suspend Crosby. Kronwall could drop kick somebody in the face with his skates on and slide by.

Besides, it was a team fight, and hockey is an emotional game. He didn't instigate a fight, he just joined in one already happening on the ice. A stupid mistake? Sure. There were other instigators that started the black hole of fighting, sucking all of the players on ice into it.

after the NHL didn't suspend Scott Walker for his cheap shot on Aaron Ward I don't think there was any way they could have suspended Malkin.

NBA did suspend some Suns a couple of years ago for stepping off the bench and used the letter of the law reasoning for the suspension. I am not too surprised though, but if it was a lesser guy I would think that he would be suspended.

Also, IMO guys were shoving, but Malkin came in looking to rough up Zetterberg and he started throwing the punched (thus instigating), but whatever. Last two time a team (the Ducks) tried to start a fight with the Wings at the end of the game, the Wings won the next game. I am looking forward to tonight's game since it is not a series until a home team loses.
