Re: Stanley Cup Finals (DET leads 2-0)

Hopefully this is the type of game where you get outplayed for 2 periods like Pittsburgh has, realized it's time to step up and dominate the 3rd to win, and in this case save the series.

2-2 after 2.

I do find it very convenient the NHL overturned the Instigator on him.
The NBA is not going to suspend a star, even if it's deserved. Same as they didn't suspent Ovechkin for his knee to knee. They also wouldn't suspend Crosby. Kronwall could drop kick somebody in the face with his skates on and slide by.

Besides, it was a team fight, and hockey is an emotional game. He didn't instigate a fight, he just joined in one already happening on the ice. A stupid mistake? Sure. There were other instigators that started the black hole of fighting, sucking all of the players on ice into it.

NBA did suspend some Suns a couple of years ago for stepping off the bench and used the letter of the law reasoning for the suspension. I am not too surprised though, but if it was a lesser guy I would think that he would be suspended.

Also, IMO guys were shoving, but Malkin came in looking to rough up Zetterberg and he started throwing the punched (thus instigating), but whatever. Last two time a team (the Ducks) tried to start a fight with the Wings at the end of the game, the Wings won the next game. I am looking forward to tonight's game since it is not a series until a home team loses.[/quote:1jro58lo]
Whoops, small error on my part. I meant NHL. I tend to have too much running through my head, and make little mistakes a lot lately. Kind of embarrassing.

that's exactly what happened.

Pens win Game 3 4-2.

what a great game to attend. the crowd was quiet throughout parts of the 2nd but in the 3rd it was so loud I couldn't hear my buddy next to me.

I am not too surprised by the result last night. Though IMO, the refs should have never called that penalty on Ericcsson, both teams had been doing that all night and then to call it midway through the third is just irresponsible. The refs definitely missed the 6 men on the ice, the cross check to Franzen's head, and two HUGE interference calls one when Cleary dumped it into the corner and Satan did not allow him to to even get to the corner (in the 2nd), and then another in the 3rd when Helm did the same thing. Both of those were more obvious than the one Ericsson had. I know that the refs are not perfect but 6 men was pure ********. Oh well, the Wings just need to go out there and play like they can and take game 4 from the Pens on Thursday

6 men? I don't know what you're talking about

I definitely agree that should have been called. I know every penalty can't be seen, but a ref should have picked up on that one. I thought the one announcer was going to pass a kidney stone while that was happening.

I love how Wings fans act like they were screwed over in Game 3 by the refs, what a joke. There were missed calls all postseason so far, the refs can't see everything all the time. Some penalties are more obvious because of the situation. Breaking someone's stick has been called 99.99% of the time I've seen it so far this season...except for in Game 2 when Hossa broke Dupuis stick and it wasn't called.

Stick breaking has not been called too much in the Wing's series, and I know refs are human but 6 men on the ice for over 20 seconds is pure ********. I am just saying, if you are not calling interfearence like that all game, don't blow the whistle in the third period over it.

Well, you must not watch very many games then, because just about every time a player slashes another players stick and it breaks, a slashing penalty is called. It should be called, the rule is there for a reason. If you slash a players stick and break it, that player is pretty much useless at that point. And don't talk to me about interference, the Wings are probably the best team in the league at interfering another player just a small amount but yet the refs aren't calling. The commentators have mentioned it several times so far in this series.

Re: Stanley Cup Finals (series tied 2-2)

Detroit looked pretty tired after Jordan Staal scored the short handed goal and Fleury played his best game of the Playoffs.

can't wait for Saturday. I wish they were playing tomorrow.

Re: Stanley Cup Finals (series tied 2-2)

I know the Detroit fans like to complain about the non-calls on the Pens but they had 4 power plays last night and scored 0 goals plus the dirty slash on Sid's legs wasn't called in the third.

also I think it was a HUGE mistake to play Draper instead of Abdelkader but I am glad they did.

What an awesome game last night. The Wings looked physically and emotionally drained in the 3rd period. It's now a best of 3 series and with the 2 best players in the world and a hot goalie, I'll take the Pens FTW!!!!!
