Don't think it's good for collectors, but that Prizm card looks sharp!

yeah the prizm card looks sharp but I hope they don't let him sign them all in ball point pen! This could be a good thing for his RC's...makes finding a nice card of him in a Nats uni that much harder.

He hasn't signed for Topps since 2011, so does it really matter?

Whats better, Strasburg autos only in Panini , or no autos at all?

Oh hell yeah it does. That thing is awesome! Kinda funny that the MLB doesn't require all MLB players to either sign exclusives only with topps or not at all. What I mean is, if they are going to sign autos for UD or leaf or panini, then they shouldn't be exclusives. But they can still sign for those companies. But if they do an exclusive deal then it has to be with topps. I don't really care either way but it seems of MLB is putting topps up on this pedestal, they'd make sure they get dibs. Or am I way off here?

It's a good thing for his Topps autos, as he's shown in his Nats uniform in them. I'll be coveting my 2010 BC stash even more now.

it does not really matter

He's got his rookie card out, no different than the UD spokesmen back in the day. There are plenty of baseball players to go around.

I'm just impressed that they managed to say exclusive/exclusively 8 times in 5 paragraphs.

....and if he happens to blow his arm out again, no one will care.

Nice move by Panini, but risky.

If I were a company, I'd always choose a position player to be my exclusive "face".

Interesting. I was actually thinking about making a post discussing Strasburg's hobby (auto) upside as his autos haven't been produced as much as Trout and Harper's. This though throws an interesting spin on it. There will surely be more autos to hit the market but none in a Nats uni. I think this may even strengthen his current Topps autos with only one year of RC autos.

What I'm most looking forward to with Panini is the non-card autos (baseballs, pictures, etc). I've been wanting a nice signed ball or picture of his from a trusted source.

Why the hell would anyone want Strasburg in a USA uni now that he has multiple MLB cards?

The USA version will be a nice option if/when Strasburg switches teams in a few years giving collectors of his new team a option that doesn't include a rival team.

The lack of his autos will drive his panini autos regardless of what team is shown or logo isn't.

As someone who collects USA cards, and doesn't care about the Nationals, I'd want one. But seriously doubt I'd pony up the money to actually buy one.

I don't think so, people will just pay whatever they would have paid for a 4th or 5th generation auto of a good player. Pitchers don't sell as well as hitters do and his injury history will always keep some people on the sidelines. I don't know any collectors breathlessly awaiting a new Strasbourg auto when they can go and buy 2010 thru 2011 Topps autos all day long off ebay.

Exactly what I was gonna say. Apparently Topps won't give him enough money. Or maybe he still has carpel tunnel syndrome from 2010 when he was in every product for nearly 2 years straight

The people that say Topps is too cheap when signing exclusive players are the same people that say Topps overpays to get the exclusive contract.

Can Topps just use their mlbpa license to have players appear on their cards without signing each player individually?
