It's amazing if you look at where he was 4 years ago.

I stay away from Pitcher, too many blow their arms out before reach MLB.
He'll be in the Minors for this summer at the most.

They might give him a shot at the AFL as well.

Damn, I am so tempted to bust this....

I collect....not sell much, but I do invest periodicity in a stud. So I can buy more prewar cards from the profits...

No. By that time, Strasburg and the other draft eligible players will have mainstream cards and the USA's will likely have gone down.

I find it hard to believe that the 16U patch autos alone will be able to carry this product.

Jaypers, I say buts it now dude. Who knows if Strasburg will blow his arm out and if you pull a monster card of him out of that case, sell it and buy his mainstream cards when they come out. Why take a chance on the best pitching prospect this decade has ever seen?

I think he may sell at draft time based on his answer to my question when he and the other guys in this get hyped up but at the same time don't have any or very few mainstream cards.

True. Strasburg will have a mainstream card and I hope Bowman is smart this year and signs him right away. They need to compete with Razor this year and they cannot slack off.

Yeah, Topps needs to stop being so god damn lazy with signing Draft picks. They cannot rely on AFLAC autos from here on out to save their ass every year. They need to sign big Draft picks to steal the thunder away from Razor.

In 2001, Mark Prior started the season 15-0 for USC. His first loss was the last game of the season against cross town rival UCLA.

My point in this is Strasburg is not a sure thing. Like Prior, he could easily go down with an arm injury and do nothing special in the Bigs. He may have the stuff now but you never know how that will translate into AA, AAA, and MLB.

That example is fairly irrelevant. Prior had 18 and an era under 2.50 in 2003 at the age of 22. That's a long way from flaming out in AA. His downfall came from being overworked in 2003 at the major league level, increasing his innings by about 60 from the previous season. It didn't take a rocket science to realize he was at a very high risk for injury.

Strasburg is a proven talent, and will likely spend very little time in the minors. Assuming the Nats don't completely abuse his arm, I see no reason to assume he is an injury risk.

Strasburg is as close to a sure thing as you are going to get when you draft a pitcher and a team like the Nationals has to take that chance, even if it costs them too much $.
