How's Strasburg's overall pitch count for the season? I can't find that stat online.
He's pitched 102 innings over his 14 games, which is about 7.2 innings per game.
That's more than most Major Leaguers average.
But since he's so dominant, I would not think his pitch count goes too high.
I hate it when high school and college coaches overuse pitchers, leading to a possible Minor/Major League career full of injuries.

Pretty sure Gwynn has been around the game a few years, and knows what and what not to do.
I'm not worried.

Agreed. Gwynn has always seemed to be one of the great ambassadors for the game, and I would think that he would make the long term health of his players a priority. Unfortunately, as Austin pointed out, there are coaches out there who don't, and are willing to ride their ace as far as possible, regardless of the potential for long term damage to the player's career. That's the root cause for the arm problems that caused Tanner Scheppers to fall to the Pirates in the second round last year, and then subsequently caused the Pirates to let him go unsigned due to long term injury concerns.[/quote:1fq7oept]

Not even close to true. I am from Fresno know Schepper and there is NO truth to the RUMOR that he was overworked. Look at his IP's. He was hurt doing something idiotic and his coach covered it for him and told him to hit the road. He was not even allowed in the dugout during the Bulldogs World Series run in Omaha. I am so tired of hearing that Scheppers was overworked. He has a lot of growing up to do.
