Strata cards in 2014 topps are awesome

This is what I've been trying to say for a while. Cut the number of products and simply insert better hits into base Topps. If base Topps is by far their best product, it should pull in more collectors. Topps can't grow with Bowman stuff being their go to.

Secondly, I'm surprised nobody has complained that these are probably "stickers". I could be wrong, but it looks as if the very top layer is acetate that has only the auto on it. So Topps can build the entire card, have Machado sign 250 pieces of acetate then finish production later.

If so, another smart move.

love these as well, but like an earlier poster stated, TOPPS will release Strata because of the popularity and drive the prices down. Beautiful Design, just hope these are legit game used.

These patches look amazing, especially numbered so "high".

I know the card reads "game used" but we've seen it before where there's a typo on all cards. Hope it's not manufactured.

Unless only 2 or 3 of the 25 cards have prime patch material, the patches likely are from fan jerseys or otherwise manufactured. I can't believe all 25 machado cards, for instance, would all be from game-used prime patch material because that means dicing up two expensive game used jerseys to make his 25 strata cards, and then what prime patch material do you have left to make five star and triple t***s machado cards from unless you acquire another batch of expensive game used jerseys?

I'm going to wait five years or so to pick up a strata card since I know how Topps works. Topps inserts strata into 2014 Topps baseball series one packs. Collectors fall in love. Topps then decides to make a baseball strata release. Topps then decides to repeat the release every year as a new brand. Five years from now, strata cards very easy to find and very affordable because they've been heavily released for many years, not just limited release each year for five years.

Topps killed the minis over the last few years and topps will kill the strata unless they limit the production each year to keep a strata card special.

Except by then they will be plain white "relic" swatches or mfg patches numbered /99

At this point they just need to scrap "game used" and stick with autos and inserts. To me personally, I consider all GU the same as a manufactured patch.

On a related note, those of us wishing to search for 2014 topps cards will now have to include in our search -olympic AND -olympics because of the way ebay has all but crippled its own search protocol.



p.s. - apparently FCB thinks that ebay, olympic, and olympics are all misspelled words...:lol:
