Another pissed of loser blaming shill bidders.. The seller is a member of the FCB, but of course you didn't believe him..

Bid the highest amount you want to bid on a card. If you get it great, if you don't then quit bitching because someone wanted to bid higher..

Use a sniping service and maybe that will help you.

I guess the first person to bid against Wossa thought he was a shill bidder to as he had a "0" feedback at some point..

There are a few collectors on here that want a card for their collection, but don't want to pay for the card.. If a card doesn't come up that often, then bid higher to get the card..

I have paid well over book value for a card that I wanted, because I had never seen it on EBAY in over 3 years.. Sometimes you have to bite the bullet, don't mention it on this site as there might be another collector you just tipped off to a card they needed for their set, collection, etc..

;)

I have no problem paying whatever for it.But I won't spend a damn dime if I feel something is funny. This was.I don't give a rats ass who won the darn thing.I don't care for how much it went for.I really felt there was something up.

I know we all started somewhere but one thing I have noticed is you see all of these first time bidders and its always on rare items and whatnot. One dude even had some cards I need for a set a while back and in his auction it clearly stated people with under 10 feedback were not even allowed to bid yet every single card of his(and I mean all of them) had the same bidder that bid them all up.I even contacted the guy and he ensured me he was not shilling them.Either way...it was funny.

I also don't care if this dude does have an account here.So could my mom for all I know.Who cares.Does that make him special?Does it mean he wouldn't do something like this?

You act like we just come up with horrible things to say about people just for the hell of it.I could care less.I just saw what the OP was showing and after seeing how the Bags turned out...I echoed his sentiments because it seemed awfully odd.It had nothing to do with not wanting to pay for the card.If you want to know the truth...I had figured I would throw a bid in of around $101.99 for it just to ensure I won.I am not kidding you.So yeah...some dude won it for $43.Good for him.But this seller will never get a cent of my money because I don't trust him.

And just so you know smart guy...a snipe doesn't do jack.Yeah you may win the item but I don't need a snipe to do that. The whole point of sniping is to win it for as little as possible and not let others know you are going to be bidding until its too late.

These idiots who shill their items are just ensuring they get a certain amount for them that way they don't have to throw a high starting bid up or a BIN option. That way people think they can possibly get a deal. Its crap.

I can tell you that I would have bid higher than what 3 of the cards ended for, but I didn't cuz someone on here is trying for the set and told me he had snipes set on all of them...while shilling is wrong in the case of these cards if shilling was involved it didn't make a difference in the final price.

Yeah it did.I just said what I would have bid for the Bags and that is about a $60 difference from what it ended at.

I don't know what your friend was willing to bid on it or if he even did but because I felt it was shilled it did make a difference. The person that won the card may not have won it after all.The only thing it really does is hurt the seller.Maybe it was legit.Maybe it wasn't.But I am not about to drop a nice chunk if I smell something fishy.

Hey...congrats to whoever won it for the $43.I have no beef with them.

The board member did win it (he won all of them). These cards are extremely popular and rarely show up on eBay. I honestly don't think there would be any reason for the seller to shill the auctions. I'm not saying he did or didn't just that there wouldn't be a reason to do it on these particular cards.

It depends. There is a lot of times I feel the seller just does it as opposed to putting a high starting bid or just a BIN so that people will actually start bidding.I know I tend to shy away from things with a high starting bid.It doesn't mean I or someone else won't bid but the point is...you normally as a general rule of thumb get more bids if its started off small and you let it ride. The thing with shilling ,as I am sure you know, is you get to actually control it for a certain point from behind the scenes and implement the minimum price you want to sell it for. There is nothing that must suck more than a high dollar card going for next to nothing and it does happen.Especially now in the economic times we are in.I am starting to see weird stuff happen with cards nobody would normally even bother bidding on let alone fight for.I have let several things go simply because of this and while it may be legit...its odd at best.

I have no beef if someone here purchased the cards. If they needed them and potentially dealing with this crap was okay then so be it.I am not here to tell anyone what they can or can't buy or how they should spend their money. But as aforementioned...I don't try to contribute any more than I have to.

I hear you, but it may be a couple of years before you see another one of these...I used to search regularly for them and one would show up every six months or so. I've only seen about half the cards in the set (Helton, Chipper, Griffey, Gwynn, Sosa, the five that ended tonight and a few others).

I've never seen a Ripken as far as I can remember. :(
My guess, is I'm looking at a $100+ card if I do.

I guess it comes down to perception.. I didn't see anything that flagged a shill bidder to me, and someone got a great price on some rare cards..

If I come across any of these, I'll let you guys know, and if they are in a local shop, I'll pick them up as most shop owners don't know what they are worth..
