Matt...you have the size and build to keep people at bay...so do it.

One thing I can assume, not a single dumpy dealer was moving Rob around at all.

Oh yeah...and one of these times I'll back to Chicago for one of these shows. Ever since I left the Midwest I've missed them.

Hey, if anyone is taking requests, don't forget some nice Yount stuff for me :)

Although, being as close to Wisconsin as the show is, I'm going to guess that local stuff (Brewers, Cards, Cubs, Sox, regional FB/BK) will be given a premium price.

I had a blast last night. I got there at about 4:15 and the line was crazy, I would guess there were probably 1,200 or so people in front of me. My only complaint was that the line zig zagged into the far back hallways and they had the heat on high. That sucked! Especially since the dude in front of me was RIPE! As someone has already mentioned, whats with the smelly collectors? It wasn't even BO - it's a something else. It was like the dude had a load in his pants or something. Regardless, I had a great time and everyone was pretty nice. Skrip I believe I saw you and the Beckett booth and almost said hello but didn't want to bug you as you looked pretty busy. You had an insane amount of cards up there right? I ended up with a few Beckham autos I needed an a case of 09 Bowman Chrome from D&A. I could have got it cheaper online, but I wanted to walk out with one, so I was willing to pay a little more. Once I but it I will post the results on the box break board. Waaaay more people than the last time I attended two years ago, which is encouraging. Have fun folks that are going today!

Hawkfandan,

I was up at bgs, but those weren't my cards. A dude next to me had a stack.

I hope you did well on your case! I did pretty well on some loose boxes that I will post later.

I had a good time at the show today. Traffic seemed okay but there seemed to be as many or more attendees trying to sell as there were buyers. There was lots of haggling going on with the dealers holding pretty stubbornly on their pricing, based on my inquiries.

There's always a good amount of vintage stuff at this show, but there seemed to be an exceptional amount of higher end vintage signed checks, postcards, documents, etc. I suspect the economy may have flushed some stuff out of private collections. I wish I had a few thousand extra bucks sitting around.

There weren't a lot of dealers selling wax but I picked up a few boxes from my usual source, Marty's Sportcards. My best hit was a Mystery Cut exchange from this year's Legendary Cuts.

The autograph lines were mostly short (Randy Johnson being a notable exception). I got the three autographs I needed for my book (Ray Guy, Warren Moon, Carroll Dale) in under a half hour. As with almost all the retired football guys I've had sign the book, the three of them were very cordial and couldn't have been nicer. All in all, I'm glad I made the trip.
