Yep...using it on an older laptop with win xp.

At nearly 35 I don't think I'll be buying a badass gaming rig anytime soon...

yah sorry for making you read all of that and THEN realizing my computer probs outperforms 99% of others here >.<

My other computer was xp too, and the technology for skype just cant be handled on XP i think. It did come out after XP did I believe, hence the pseudo non-compatability.

Fo shizzle. Been using it exclusively.

Unfortunately Erin has a focus group this week that is being done on Skype...:?

Ah bummer city...

Maybe she has an awesome friend with a newer laptop that runs skype?

Pretty sure this makes no sense at all. Having and application come out after an OS does, would make it THAT much more compatible with that OS.

Nope...

But I think I have it running well enough to slog through...then I'm wiping that XXXX from existence after she's done...

When she does her focus group, try to do this: (idk how often you guys use the computer or if you have even another...)

Turn the Laptop off for a couple hours. Let it cool down and catch a few Z's.

Turn it back on about 45 minutes before the focus group. Let your computer load EVERYTHING before you go clicking anything :P. Once it's loaded fully, pull up the task manager and kill any and all programs running- Browsers, games, everything (downloaded ones, not the stuff needed to actually make the computer run). Then load skype and sign in. Let it also load completely before trying to click anything.

The reason I say to get on skype well before is for two reasons:

1- if your computer freezes or is running weird, you have time to shut it down and reboot.

2- If you're logging in with 5 minutes before the group is supposed to start, you'll probably get a call to join the group before your skype has fully loaded, which will make it load even slower and probably freeze on you, whether you accept or decline the call (past experiences on this one!)

Maybe it would run better on her galaxy s2 ??

It might....again, I have a galaxy S4 and it runs ~flawlessly on 4G so I'm not the one to ask, but I would say it might be slightly better? It is newer technology, but, it is MOBILE technology before it got ~really solid. Not sure you'd have to test both.
