Many offensive and rude outbursts that seem to be more frequent for some time, mainly from the same people time after time. More restraint is required.
Some members are simply unable to disagree while being constructive in their comments. There is even a limit to freedom of speech...

YES, YES, YES!!

See my thread about that...http://www.freedomcardboard.com/for...k-appreciation-baseballs-history-my-rant.html

Although...like Chris said...very little you can do to change collectors' mindsets.

I agree.
The site used to be more balanced between collectors and investors.
And based on the number of responses in threads, people seem to be more excited about meeting a Double-A player than an actual Major Leaguer.

Also, it's sad when a thread about a star retiring or a Hall of Famer dying gets less than ten responses, but a thread about a minor leaguer hitting two home runs or gettig promoted from A to AA gets multiple pages.

I certainly don't dislike prospectors, and I was one for a few years in addition to my normal collecting.
I just wish there were more collectors.
But I guess that's the state of the hobby now.
I still visit this board every day and like it a lot (even though the new iPhone app still won't work on my 4S).

combine the box breaks with the baseball thread. it would make for more buying and selling. and MAYBE trading.

I only post from my phone, so this might be a Safari issue. But I have massive problems with the board software.

Things just seem overly user surly. I can't even post pics using IMG tags like every other board.

I think this may have something to do with traffic. It is much harder these days to post pictures. I remember when I was trying to post a mailday, it took me a while to figure out how to post pictures with the new software.

I honestly think the baseball board could have a prospectors forum all to itself.. where all the members who solely prospect can go and post all the latest greatest news and the main baseball board can be for the rest of us that either collect retired players, HOF'ers or vintage. They are two big seperate entities that could use their own discussion boards specifically.

Agree with all you guys on this. But since we're looking for solutions - maybe a forum for people like us that want to talk about ACTUAL baseball performances, accomplishments, history, pennant races, venting about our teams, GM and Manager decisions, fight for jobs, trivia, classic cards, classic moments etc etc etc where we can avoid all the BS prospecting. Call it Baseball Chat.

My New Post Quotes link doesn't work right. It wokred like the first week or two, but not since.

I still haven't gotten the hang of the best way to track threads. I usually just click on View My Posts to see what threads are getting action, but then when I make the mistake of posting in an ongoing thread it junks up my View My Posts list

Any way I can get the img code from the thumbs page rather than having to click on the picture?

I agree with the celeb thing. If there was a sports player on the board and just posted a little or did box breaks would be cool.

The old version of the site was a lot cleaner and easier to use. Now I'm always having to close side bars in all directions when I log on, I have to see that someone quoted my post, all a bunch of stuff I don't care for. I'm sure there's more, but this is off the top of my head. There are also a lot of excellent features of the site too, my favorite being the BGS group grading.

Do people realize that if they want more non-prospect related content, then they need to create and support non-prospect related content? If you want more discussion about certain things, you are obligated to create and be a part of those things. Moving prospect-based discussion to another forum will not solve the problem. Making more threads and posts on the topics you find interesting will.

Like that is something Chris can do. You can't just wish fun ideas into existence. It would be cool, but it's a pipe dream.

I believe he's had athletes do personal signings at his store and at card shows in his area, so that's a start.

going to ask a buddy of mine who just moved to NY to become Marketing Director for the mets, if he would be up for a Q&A.

I've talked with several people that just lurk the boards. They say they enjoy the site but don't participate because of all the bickering and constant slamming that occurs. Do something about the repeat "offenders" and maybe the traffic will improve

Kind of a huge difference from asking them to become part of an online community. lol

To clarify, I'm not suggesting the athlete become a regular poster. Gilmo was responsible for LoMo doing a Q&A session on the FCB chat some time ago. It's therefore not out of the realm of possibility to ask an athlete to post here every so often, time permitting.

Why am I obligated to put effort into this? I thought this thread was intended to be a b*tch list or a wish list?

This. The constant bullying of certain members usually by the same certain members is ridiculous. There are members who post for the sole purpose of arguing and to insult others. It IS possible to disagree with someone and NOT resort to calling them an idiot or ******* no matter how outlandish their opinion may seem to you. And the dogpiling is sad too. On the flip side I have met some great people too and I would hate for them to leave due to some of these issues which they have also discussed with me in private as well. Just my $.02
