Thanks for the contest.

This is me in front of Ultimate Sports Cards in Las Vegas NV. For those of you that watch Pawn Stars the owner, Jeremy, is the sports card/memorabilia expert on that show. I've been going to this shop for about 3 or 4 years now. I don't get over there as often as I would like lately because I've moved to the complete other side of town. I really like that Jeremy is very friendly every time I go in. He also has a nice selection of Singles and is very fairly priced with them. He also keeps boxes out sorted by player and a box of inexpensive Jersey cards / Autos that I can look through. For some reason I like to be able to look through boxes of cards at a card shop, and usually I can find a few cards that I like in there. When I was there I bought an 2001 Albert Pujols Bowman card and a few griffey's and Lincecum cards. I also bought a pack of Bowman DPP. I can't believe you only get 7 cards in those packs I'm not a prospector but wanted to open a pack since I've read all the box reviews on here. I think I'll stick with singles lol. Anyway if you are visiting Vegas this is a great shop to check out, it's a little ways off the strip though so you would need to have a car available. I know it won't affect my chances of winning but if I win this contest I will give the first FCB member that is visiting Vegas and contacts me about it, a ride out there and we can support our local card shops even further.

Here is the shop info:

Thanks again for the contest!

Here I am in front of Legacy Sports cards in Las Vegas NV. I guess I am lucky to have at least of couple of card shops that I can visit. I have only been to this shop 3 times, two of which have been in the last severall days, thanks to this contest. What I like about this shop is that he was able to completely fill all the cards I needed to finish my 1980 topps set, and he got me within 2 cards of finishing my 1977 topps set. It was unexpected that he would have the inventory at his store to be able to achieve this. If anyone is looking to finish up some sets I recommend giving these guys a call. The owner is Marcel Bilak and he seemed very friendly. This shop also posts breaks on youtube that I have checked out a few times. For those visiting Vegas and wanting to get their baseball card fix this is a good option to check out as it is relatively close to the strip, probably a $25 cab ride away. Here is the shop info:

My favorite Card Shop, Shane's Big League Sportscards in Renton, Washington.

Sorry about the picture, I'm not much of a model, and Shane is even less of a photographer...

Marcel is awesome! Have dealt with him thru email to buy some cards from Beckett Marketplace and ebay, and he is always very courteous and helpful.

Only technology I have working is my Flip Video - both times forgot to hold up my purchase.

They were really interested in the contest - I'm going to email them the link. I scrounged around in their 50 cent bin and got a Cortez Kennedy/Sean Gilbert Team Pinnacle (yay, dufex!), a 1990 Star Gastonia Rangers Team Set, and an old clipped box score with Ty Cobb and Tris Speaker. Bought a pack of 2011 Bowman Chrome - got a Carlos Lee refractor and a base Banuelos.

What I like about this shop is all the toys - some I remember from when I was a kid. Some real oldies too! What I don't like? Not enough 90's cards, but I know it's not a big seller.

Bought five packs of 1996 Leaf. I thought the price stickers said $1.30, but turns out they said $3!!!!! But in the spirit of the contest, I ponied up the $16... and subsequently got shut out.

What I like about this place? About half the time I go in there are teenagers. I am afraid of teenagers, so I'd rather have them in the card shop than roaming the streets. I also like that he spells collectibles with an "i".

What I don't like? Again, I love the 90's! Need more!

Re: Support Your Local Card Shop CONTEST ends 7 Jan 2012

My favorite shop is Sportsnut Cards and Collectibles, located in Belmar, NJ. The owner is Ted Henschel. There are a number of reasons the shop is awesome. First off, Ted is a real nice guy, not pushy, knowledgeable and honest. Also, the prices of wax boxes, single cards, memorabilia, and supplies are very reasonable and fair. The shop is less than 10 minutes away and there is always a great selection. Sportsnut also does a really awesome promotion. Each month there is a raffle for a box of wax and you get a raffle ticket for every $10 you spend. If the winner doesn't claim the prize, another box is added to the prize package. Right now it's up to 3 boxes and they are always great boxes for prizes. They also have monthly pack wars parties that seem great, just haven't had a chance to go yet. It's nice to have such a great shop close to home. Been going there 5 years now since moving back from Florida. Just this week I pulled a Bryce Harper blue refractor jersey/autograph card. The box also had a gold refractor auto, a base auto, and a gold refractor card. My wife has shopped there for me and my mother has as well and they were given great prices, advice, and not taken advantage of like other shops have. Their contact information is:

Re: Support Your Local Card Shop CONTEST -ENDS TONIGHT

I didn't remember to take a pic at the shop, but I bought a hobby box of 2011 Bowman Draft and 1 box of 2011 Topps Finest today. The shop is StrikeZone in Port St. Lucie, FL. The store's owner is Ralph Brunt and he is a great guy. He has a lot of knowledge and the prices were very reasonable (Bowman Draft Hobby- 65 & Topps Finest 100). He has to supplement his shop by carrying bowling accessories. The summer is pretty slow down here. I live in Vero, so I get there every so often or to Melbourne (Card Collector's Heaven).

These were the pulls from the 2 boxes.

I'm sure Ralph would attest to me being there today. All the info is posted above.

Thanks,
Dave

Winners!!!!

Congrats to our three winners, there were 22 potential winners. two people who submitted for two different shops so 24 total submissions. I assigned each entry with a number based on what number you were submitting your entry and did random.org and the following three were the first three numbers.

ajbraves25 and his shop Sportscard Center in Creve Coeur, IL

ChasHawk and his shop CT's Hobbies in Belividere, IL

Johnny G and his shop Sportsnut Cards and Collectibles in Belmar, NJ

I will be pming you shortly and will be contacting your shops by the end of this week to coordinate a gift card/gift certificate or some form of store credit for you. Thanks again for everyone who participated and who went out and supported their local card shop. Although only a few people participated i think i might do something similar again at the end of this year too.

Thank you so much Ken. This is so great. Like I said in my PM, my wife got sick last year(seizures) and hasn't been able to work yet. This has really put a hit on my collecting habits, but this really brightened me up. Thanks guys for making it happen.
