I'm sure this has been discussed, but I'd just like to clarify.

I've been cherry-picking my hobby shop, constantly asking for the third pack whenever they crack a new box of sweetspot. I don't know if this is evil or not, I'm okay with it.. I think.

But is it always the same order?

Yesterday I pulled a Felix Hernadez /5 bat and was pretty happy.

I think this is my 5th or six sweetspot, and they've all be in lucky number three.

A lot of the card companies are asking for people to not buy single packs, which seems kinda stupid. Topps Finest makes their "hit" packs quite a bit larger to the naked eye. Thankfully my hobby shop doesn't let you feel up the packs, but when you can see the hits from 5 feet away; soemthing's wrong.

Has anyone got a pack of sweetspot where the hit isn't #3? Keep in mind, maybe my hobby shop re-stacks them in backwards after pricing, so it could well be pack #4 originally.

I had bought a few boxes before I tried it out..

I don't know if it's pack-searching or not; I mean, it'd take a better man than I to ask for a random pack when you know the good stuff's in pack 3.

Could you ask for a random pack when you know where the goodstuff is?

Bowman's Best in the mid 90s inserted the refractors in the same location in "most" boxes, people would obviously reach in pull the two refractor packs and that was all, thus shuffling was needed.

Personally I am surprised the shop owner does not shuffle the packs first then reinsert them into the box. However, I have seen several youtube breaks and IP breaks and I dont feel there is a constant placement of the good cards.

Hrm. That's so weird.

Odds of nailing it on 6 consecutive boxes: 1/50K
Odds of nailing it on 5 boxes: 1/8K

So you are calculating your pack searching/cherry picking odds??

That is weird.

Hrm? After people said that it wasn't consistent, I figured I'd do some math.

I'm a little bit of a statistics nerd, I'd do the same thing for any coincidence, I guess.

i think it depends on the case itself, maybe.

for that particular case of 20 boxes, maybe most will be that way but other cases may be different

honestly, did about 8-9 boxes of 09 sweet spot and my sweet spot autos were all over the place. 1st pack, last pack, middle pack, etc

I ALWAYS mixed up the packs in every new box I priced because of stuff like this...not sure I can blame the OP and it isn't pack searching, maybe "pack knowing?"

This guy needs the boot, seems the self proclaimed math nerd is over thinking how to scam people constantly. Its only a matter of time..

You might want to double check your Math then, a simple factorial will not work to identify the assume probability. You need to factor in the possible permutations and independent variables. The odds over the production run of hitting 6 "consecutive" boxes with hit in pack 3 is much higher that 1 in 50K.

I'm not one to point fingers but I think the OP is Canadian and should be given a break.

*edit* and I don't mean a break of any limb or anything like that.

I didn't even see the other thread, but you guys are absolutely nuts.

First off, I said there was a shot, or a possibility.

Did I say that the OP in the other thread was going to do it? No.

I simply said there's a possibility for it. I don't know the guy, nor do I make any assumptions about him. What I do know is that is a possibility of people doing that.

Calling me a ********* and telling me to bite you, wasn't appreciated though.

SECONDLY,

to whoever called me out on my statistical knowledge: Did the fact that i presented ROUNDED numbers give you a hint that I didn't do sophisticated numbers? Normally, when you provide ROUNDED numbers, it means that you're doing straight probability.

Finally,

Who am I trying to scam? What the hell are you guys talking about? I should be banned for raising possibilities?

Some of you guys are just looking for ****.
