Since I live in Hawaii and we have no card shows, I get jealous of the card show reports some of you guys write (like Messier's White Plains report).
I miss going to shows every month in the '80s and early '90s when I lived in Dallas.

So I have a request that would not only give me a card show fix, but would also give everyone a virtual tour of card shows around the country:
Take photographs at the card shows!
Not just pictures of cards and showcases, but of the room, the collectors, cool things you see, the autograph guests, etc.

Even if they're just camera phone pictures, it would still give all of us a better idea of what card shows around the country are like.

Just stuff like this:

Heres a production video for the White Plains show.

Only thing I dont like about it is that they show NO CARDS, its all memorabilia....ALL MEMORABILIA.....eventhough the vast majority of dealers set up there sell cards.

Click on the "White Plains show" tab top left then scroll down on your left to Movie Tour and Photo Gallery

Being in Mexico I also need a fix, please support the thread
I've been to a show "twice". One was the All Star Fan Fest in 2004 and the other one in Tucson, AZ (really small).

...should NEVER, EVER, EVERRRRRR be in the same sentence together!!! You get NO PITY from us (living in paradise & acting as if we should feel any pity for you...card shows or not, you live in Hawaii)!

J/K brother...How about you post pictures & virtual tour's of Hawaii & we'll do the card shows? It'll be an even trade off (you can dream of being in card shows & we can dream of being in Hawaii)! ;) :D

If I go to the Tri-Star show here next weekend, I'll see what I can do!
Later bud, Dave. :D

Just curious, why don't they have shows in Hawaii? There seemed to be some interest in sports and the hobby when I was down there. Seems they could do something somewhere.

Oh and i agree i LOVE looking at card show pictures. All the stuff you mentioned and i also love looking into the showcases at the cards. Its neat to see what people are selling in different parts of the US and Canada. Its also awesome to look at pics of showcases will a bunch of high end cards in them.

I set up at about three Hawaii shows from 2004-2006 During the Hawaii Trade Conference in the Ilikai Hotel.

When I set up, it was totally different than any show Ive been to in terms of what sold.

I can only speak for what I sold but it was a large amount of MLB Japanese players mixed with some Hawaiin born MLBers too.

Nomo and Ichiro were kings, big time. So much so that I stockpiled all their cards the year prior to the show. I set up albums with their cards and boy did they sell.

"Gifts" given out at the Hawaii Trade Conference were always in demand and locals knew that they could take advantage of us "mainlanders" because no attendee felt like shipping home or packing MacFarlane's or other statues or ESPECIALLY Fleer/ White Rose large die cast and get them dirt dirt cheap.

As funny and insane as this is going to sound, I picked up a stash of, ready for this, O PEE CHEE Thuman Munson cards in great shape in Hawaii.

I dont recall prospects ever selling at the shows or anyone ever asking for them.

OR, we could start a website that is just like "People of Wal Mart" and keep a blog running of some of the best we see from time to time :)

BTW, I hate all of you that get to attend shows with more than 7 dealers...

JFLAN what show is that and whens the next?

That is from the Boston Shriners show back in May of last year. We had another in November that had almost 5000 people over the course of the weekend. All of the people that you see are dealers. These pics were taken BEFORE we opened the doors to the public. The next one is end of April/First of May. Not exactly sure of the dates, but I will post a thread when it gets closer.

Sorry Hive! Don't want you to be jeaslous, so just move closer to civilization and go to a good show!

Thanks,

This show was off the hook! Got 3 packs of 89' donruss for under $3.50

Hahaha thats great!!! Reminds me of the time when myself and one of my best friends set up a couple tables at my parents garage sale, when we were about 13 or 14. We even highly advertised that there would be sportscards there in the newspapers and on signs. We did quite well and had a great time from what i remember as well.
