While Sam is an attention *****, who cares? There are tons of threads full of guys hanging off Strasburg's nuts. God forbid, we have a thread that is critical of him. He'll be a good pitcher but he's going to have to learn that not everything is going to go picture perfect for him every time. The manager's not always going to send out a reliever in the 6th inning to bail him out when he's struggling.

1. There is a Strasburg thread already, you could have mentioned this in there.
2. No one goes into your Cards threads to whine.
3. You must like the attention.
:benson:

He didn't go into anyone else's thread to whine. He started his own thread to whine. Which do you want him to do? Start his own thread, or post on the Strasburg thread?

And Sam, I've seen it before. Not really common, but I've seen it.

Sam,

Sorry, but you are wrong on this one. This is common, I have seen it happen many times. I actually kick myself for not doing it in a game myself. We were playing IU, at IU, tight game, 8th inning, and it was an offensive battle all game. Each team had gone through 4-5 pitchers and the mound was an absolute mess. I was the tallest pitcher to come in to the game at that point, and I was literally falling all over the place. The whole was massive, and no matter how far i movedone way or another on the rubber, I was practically falling down. I was spinning out and my command was severly hampered. I was worried for my safety on every pitch.

There is nothing wrong with he did. Any pitcher in baseball could ask for it, and should if they need to.

That's all it is. There's no counter balance to all of the Strasburg nuthugging. People are all up on his jock, and when one person says something negative about the guy, it's the end of the world, because his future affects every single person here so much because some people are stupid enough to blow thousands of dollars on an unproven player in hopes of making a profit in the distant future.

He's not a God people, lay off his nuts.

In 10 years, if he's going strong like a Pujols, then it'd be deserved. But now, this hype isn't deserved at all.

Well, what the grounds crew is doing is not that unusual at all, it's just how often do most people really pay attention. Aside from that, if I were the Indians, I'd coddle the hell out of Strasburg - he's the only reason anyone showed up for the game today.

And the only reason they got a national televised game,

Sam, did it take ten years for your to coddle Pujols' nuts? Doubtful. You have been swinging on his Nuts for many years, just like many other Cardinals fans. You my friend are a MASSIVE hypocrite in this situation.

I don't think anyone would be able to confirm that, because Pujols didn't come into the league until 2001, and I didn't join BMB until 2005, and non of you knew me beforehand to be able to either confirm or deny that.

Which is the only reason you noticed this happening. If the game wasn't televised, you wouldn't even have known this was an issue...just like why you claim to have "never seen it."

And this thread isn't a case of people being against negative comments on Strasburg, it's about a completely inaccurate comment. You want to talk about "golden boy pampering"...then talk about the 90-100 pitch limit, talk about the 100 inning limit they're putting on him...THAT is "pampering" and that is a legitimate argument about pampering.

A pitcher requesting a mound to be fixed because he's sliding is not "pampering," but a legitimate request from a pitcher (regardless of who it is) about safety.

I have to politely disagree with this one.

It'll be national news tonight and tomorrow, there will be a million articles written about by sports writers about how Strasburg had trouble with the mound. Everyone will be talking about it.

I'm surprised there isn't a 'What Strasburg Had For Dinner Tonight' Blog.

I've just never seen this in the middle of an inning before, that's all.

Who cares?

He's good for baseball. Not to mention, this isn't even an issue. The mound WAS an issue.
