Once in a great while, a person gets a second chance to pick up a card they missed out on...well multiply that by 29. The Lofa Tatupu collector, who made every Tatupu collectors lives a living hell, sold his collection to a card shop in Olympia, WA. That guy, in turn, put the whole lot onto ebay. The original lot was just for the 1/1's but you know me, I wanted more. I'll be out of the game for awhile after doing this, but I would have never, ever got another shot at these.

We will start simple:
spx platinum 1/1's...there are 7 of them here...don't know how many total were made:

OK now a couple of random plates:

image19-8.jpg

2005 Bowman Chrome Black Plate RC 1/1

image4-22.jpg

2007 Total Tatupu/Hill Yellow Plate 1/1

Now something close to completion:

Quick Break from the 1/1's. How about these....most of which you NEVER see anywhere anymore!

I can't even imagine how excited you must have been to discover all of those for sale. Glad they found their way into a deserving collection.

for all the Tatupu's shown (plus two I forgot to scan...topps total cards lol) I ended up paying about $900. Funny thing is, the original purchaser spent at least twice as much. :D

He fell onto some hard times and needed money fast so he went to his LCS and consigned the cards to him. I was happy to be in the right place at the right time. Yeah, he is a good guy. To be honest, I paid more than I should have knowing that he is a good guy.

Well, there are still a few on my list to get. I am I think 6 cards short of having every non 1/1 Tatupu rookie card. 2 of them are low dollar but never come up (Topps Total first edition, Bowman Silver/200), the other 4 are just never on ebay or anywhere...ever (Rookies and Stars True Blue RC which was in retail blasters only, and Donruss Classics Timeless Tributes Silver, Gold, and Platinum...never seen ANY of those ever.)

Plus there are still Darryl Tapp cards I am missing, 4 Obomanu cards, etc. Just sucks that many of the cards I'm missing were retail only pulls...no one busts retail DLP products. ::facepalm::

While its a shame that he had to get rid of his collection, its certainly nice that pretty much all the big cards went to another dedicated Tatupu collector. Congrats on the pickup. Nothing beats seeing a bunch of cards you never thought you'd have a chance at owning pop up on Ebay again.
