I wondered if anyone had any advice on where to go on some of the tough to find TCMA issues. I only want 1 card from these sets and yet never see them on Ebay.
If you are talking about those various '70s and '80's issues of old-time players, I just keep searching eBay, COMC, and Sportlots and they pop up from time to time. A lot of the '70s stuff is oversized so it can be a pain to ship, which can result in them not being listed for sale often.
If you're talking about TCMA minor league team set cards, Dave Weber at minorleaguesingles.com has been a good resource for stuff like that in the past, but looking at his site it looks like he was having some health issues and it hasn't been updated in a while. You might try shooting him an email at the address on his site to see if he's up and about. Otherwise you might have a little luck on the Beckett marketplace, or just buying an entire team set on eBay to get 1 card.
One in the same. TCMA sets (those collectors issues from the early 70s into early 80s) seem to be harder to find as sets these days. The minor league sets seem to be easier than many of the older collector sets. Those bring back great memories for me, as I somehow ended up on their mailing list when I was a kid (probably did a mail order with them to start it out). I remember buying the All Time Greats PC set and loving them. Bought a few of the all time team sets, sure wish I would have gotten more.
They seem prime for breaking up, depending on the set, but when you are talking team sets, guessing the bigger names sell well and the rest probably don't.
There is a store in Cooperstown, that was basically run by them, may still be a close connection. Baseball Nostalgia. Mike Aronstein' s son (The MA from TCMA) is active on the boards, at least Net54, as "TCMA" too, but I don't think he has evcer offered things like that. Guessing most of that stock is long gone.
Curious what you are seeking. Guessing a certain player, if you want only 1 card. I have shopped on and off for the cards for years and have a number of sets I have picked up, but I am not looking to move or break them.
