Joe Jackson and Pete Rose are the onoy ones who should be on that list.

Don't understand Santo and Raines being mentioned as they will both get in eventually.

I wish they can take players OUT.....Bill Mazeroski....most undeserving....2016 hits, .260 BA, 138 hrs, most runs scored in a season was 71, and a HORRID .299 OBP!!!! If the veterans voted him in- NO QUESTION Raines and Mattingly should get in.

Someone else said it above but other than Joe Jackson and Pete Rose, there really isn't anybody else in my opinion.

Santo, Rose, McGwire, Trammell, Raines, Whitaker, Grich, and Dwight Evans. I'll round it out with two guys that are still active but won't get in for many of the same reasons the guys above didn't get in (typically defensive excellence). Rolen and Andruw Jones.

I say Bonds gets in eventually.

I agree with Jackson, Rose, and Bonds, with a case can be made for Palmeiro, McGwire, and Sosa. I dont think Santo has any business being in the hall. When i think of all-time great players, he's not there. Its called the Hall of Fame, not hall of very good. In fact, I dont agree with several of the recent inductees being hall-worthy(Rice, Dawson, Blyleven)

Edgar Martinez was the best DH for 10+ years, yet people don't consider it a position.

I don't understand the bias against DH, and RP either. It's a legit position that has to be filled on every team, well AL teams anyway. No one judges SPers on their ability to hit. Why are we still caught up on the fact the DH doesn't field? It's not his job.

One day the DH will get some love like RP is starting to get recently.

These threads always make me glad that the fans actually have no say in who gets in.

Agreed. Now, if we could only get them to stop letting fans vote for the starters in a game where the outcome decides home field in the World Series.

Alan Trammell and Ted Simmons should be in on numbers alone, period. If Puckett is in so should Mattingly, their numbers are very similar... and I do believe they should both be in. Also, I believe Santo and Ken Boyer deserve it as well.

Buck O'Neill for contributions to the game.

It's a travesty that they left him out for all that he had done to promote the general in general and the ***** Leagues.

A few of those guys on your list will most certainly get in.

Best answer so far. He should have been voted in while he was still around to enjoy it. I was so bummed he fell ONE vote short.

Thinking of Trammell. The 84 Tigers are the only World Series winner to not have a HOFer with all players eligible.

i agree with this, though i probably hold back trammell, whitaker and grich.

i think all of the successful roiders get in eventually...

here's a thought. let's start a series of threads/polls and make the proper HOF. id be happy to run this. we can set the parameters here. i can start a preliminary thread to introduce the idea. we can hold one poll every few days. go ahead and add all of the givens and just vote on all of the fringe players (both the ones in and out). minimum # of voters. certain percentage of votes needed in order to be "elected"

i have to believe this has been done, but im not aware of it.

thoughts?

Here's an interesting one:

Larry Walker

Dude was so good, but toiling in Montreal and also having stats overlooked from his Coors field days hurt. Short career for a HOF worthy player, but he was one of the best.

Interesting thoughts on Tim Raines also. I like.

I could be convinced that Larry Walker was a HOFer as well as Tim Raines

Now that is a name that should be brought up more often.

Lefty O'Doul

4th highest career MLB batting average ever.

he is in the Japanese Hall of Fame, Pacific Coast League Hall of Fame, and Bay Area Hall of Fame, and should be in the Baseball Hall of Fame at least for his no field contributions.
