Mayhem interrupts Shields interview, asked where his rematch was, Gil Melendez pushes Miller, then Shields does, then Nick Diaz jumps in. Mayhem gets mobbed by Shields corner.

Been a long time since I've seen something like this happen.

I'm not saying I think him interrupting the interview was the right thing to do. Maybe Scott Coker sent him in the cage to hype a rematch, who knows?

But I DO think that Gilbert Melendez over reacted. Shields said 'Hey what's up buddy?' and was smiling when he first seen Mayhem. Then all Hell broke loose when Melendez shoved Mayhem.

Could have been avoided, but they over reacted.

I guess Nate Diaz was throwing some soccer kicks in there too.

Mayhem just tweeted "Whoops" eleven minutes ago.

Punishment for Mayhem??

Why would Mayhem get punished? That stuff happens all the time. How many times have we seen a fighter come in after the fight and say something? A million times.

The Gracie camp just showed that they are a bunch of senseless thugs. Mayhem was obviously trying to be funny, and they over reacted. I am not saying that Mayhem was RIGHT in interrupting him, but it's something we have seen happen a million times.

If anything, the Diaz brothers need to be punished and so does Gilbert Melendez, because they are the ones who escalated things.

I just watched a better video of the brawl, and Mayhem was standing behind on the right of the screen when Shields started his interview, then walked behind his sponsor sign, then came onto the camera.

Gracie team totally over reacted.

So I really had no idea what Strikeforce was before tonight. I also didn't realize they had Andrei Arlovski. I didn't know he left UFC. Interesting.

That was disgusting. Who was the ****** bag kicking Miller while he was getting pummeled? That ****** needs to be suspended but somehow I don't see SF doing anything. The Diaz brothers and that Gracie camp is about 50 miles from my house. That place is a shathole and they are all just wanna be gansta thugs. Nothing more nothing less. That's the kind of shat the MMA does not need. SF proves once again that UFC is the class of MMA. Then those ****** kiss ass announcers trying to lay blame on Miller is worst of all. He was just clowing around. This kind of shat is what makes SF a second class promotion.

I can agree and disagree here, but none of this happens if Miller stays out of the ring. Give Shields his limelight....and for all of you calling the camp a bunch of thugs....the guy got what he deserved. Run your mouth and get pummelled.

Did you really think Shields was going to give him a hand-shake? It's done and over....no one will be suspended because both parties were at fault.

pretty sure like Sam said, this stuff happens all the time. We've seen Rashad and Rampage after a fight, GSP and Serra, etc. Promoters send these guys in during interviews so they can start hyping up their next fight. Gilbert and the Diaz brothers are to blame and i think there should be huge penalties. Dana even has to be pissed about this. He's always talking about how they want to show everyone that MMA isn't just a bunch of thugs and bullys and here's one of his fighters kicking someone on national TV while they're on the ground. When it's all said and done though, i bet Strikeforce had this whole thing planned to create hype for their promotion. they don't care about the sport. It's completely ridiculous. People can bad mouth the UFC all they want but at least Dana is a MMA fan and would never allow something like this at one of his events.

the Yahoo Sports blog said that Mayhem and Shields have had a longtime beef with one another. I honestly didn't know that. I thought they were actually friends or something because i've seen Shields on that Bully Beatdown a few times fighting for Mayhem's show. They seemed all buddy buddy on there so when i first watched it i was like "what the hell just happened?"

Miller did not "get what he deserved" challengers come into the ring all the time Gsp I was not impressed with your performance. Rampage there's going to be some black on black crime. The wanna be gansta thugs rushed Miller and beating him while he was down. Dana should kick Nate out of the UFC if he wants to do that shat he can go be with his brother in the second rate promotion.

I don't know of any long standing beef between Miller and Shields.

After their fight in Chicago, guess who was found drinking beer together at the Mariotte next to the Sears Centre? Mayhem and Shields. After their fight they were chilling together. And with Shields appearing on Bully Beatdown on multiple occasions, I highly doubt there is too much animosity between the two.

Why Shields mixes himself up with these thuggish idiots is beyond me.

I never seen Gil in that light before last night, but always seen the Diaz bros in it.

Strikeforce sure was quick to throw Miller under the bus saying he should have expected that to happen going into the cage like that. What a despicable answer. Coker gave the impression that what happened was ok.

Sam, get off Shields' pee-pee-pee. He is just as guilty in this situation. He shoved people AND landed shots to Miller's head.

Instead of blaming sides, how about we talk about the damage this will cause to MMA as a legit sport to the masses. It's a NATIONAL black eye for the sport, when all the hard work and lobbying has made strides. This just looks awful - plain and simple.

Everyone involved should be suspended & fined, and then they should be making public apologies. Strikeforce and Scott Coker should be held fully accountable, instead of saying things like "we don't condone that stuff...". That just makes them seem like dumb idiots who can't control their employees.

What's worse, we have the announcers saying things like "sometimes things like this happens in MMA". Umm, no it doesn't. Don't even point to the old Chute Boxe PRIDE days, because that wasn't broadcast nationally, or in a time when MMA was in the spotlight.

They have an awful production for their PRIMETIME shows, awful commentating (racist and biased, I might add), and they have no sense of organization skills what-so-ever.

I feel embarrassed as an MMA fan to have seen that and people who were on the fence about MMA to have seen it.
