Ii figured people would think I was on Mayhem's jock.



I watched a higher quality video than the one I posted, and you can clearly see Mayhem standing to the right of the screen behind Shields sponsor banner before Shields interview even began. Then when it does, he walks behind the banner, and into the camera shot from the left. So Mayhem had been in the cage for some time before the interview began. It's not like he jumped the cage and interrupted it. If it was a problem him being in the cage, an official should have removed him. He had to have been standing right beside the Diaz Bro's, Gil and the rest of Shields entourage.

Shields shouldn't have pushed Mayhem, which apparently he did when the camera cut away to the blank cage, but that wasn't shown. And the thug troup sure as Hell shouldn't have jumped Mayhem like gang bangers.



This does make MMA as a whole look bad. Everyone is pissed about it. It shouldn't have escallated to the point it did.

I don't put too much stock into what Gus said. I think he was just in shock at what was happening in front of him and it kind of just blurted out. I am sure he regrets it, but was just trying to make some sort of excuse at the time.

In fact that he'd love for Shields to beat Henderson and then jet for the UFC to stick it to Strikeforce for putting him in lose/lose situations because that's what he thought Strikeforce was going in giving Shields in there with Henderson, and trying to drop his stock in hopes of re-signing him cheaper.

Despite the sport, acting like this really does taint the smell in the room. People like to talk about basketball players acting all thuggish, but that's just because it's so glaring evident when the sport is putting a ball through the hoop.
Just because this is sport is fighting that doesn't mean someone deserves a WWE-style dramatic ass-kicking, because he came in smiling while bumping shoulders. Not sure why Shields got in on it - maybe heat of the moment - but I don't think Miller meant anything other than hype.
The Diaz brothers are the same ********** everywhere you go and see someone looking for a fight. It's in their blood, and it's made them who they are.

Now that ive watched it and had time to think, the dbag...I mean Diaz brother kicking Miller's head when he was down needs to have charges pressed against him....it was uncalled for.

Im glad Mayhem got up.

There's a Gracie gym about 20 minutes from my house in a ****** part of town and the gym is an old worn down warehouse.

Shows the kind of attitude they have.

At least Lion's Den is in Tempe, and not a ******** ghetto.

...Oh, but I do have a comment about this being a "national black eye for the sport."

This wont change anyone's mind about MMA or UFC/SF/etc, and I bet it will draw more viewers who want to see Mayhem/Shields fight now.

People who want to watch MMA will, and people who dont, will not. It's not like it was 10 years ago when UFC was fighting for TV time. MMA is nationwide now and has enough popularity to withstand **** like this.

If anything, it makes SF look like a bunch of dumbfucks and the Diaz brothers look like thug dbags for ganging up on Mayhem, who while he was in there, did not start a fight. Shield's camp started a fight.

I dont care to see Mayhem/Shields again. Partly because people are blowing up Shield's win against a worn down and old Dan Henderson, who had told people he was having back problems prior to the fight. Hendo caught Bisping with a good hit then could've hurt him bad with that cheap shot while he was already KO'd, and people respect Henderson for that?...after Hendo admitted he knew Bisping was out cold and did it anyway.

I like Shields and Mayhem, but this also seems like a publicity stunt gone wrong for SF.
