Should I really be surprised that I'm getting douchy PMs from people who are late to the party and mad that I won't back out of deals for this stuff?

Yes - I would be surprised. We don't usually clamor for base. Now if it were Diffractors, I might get a little ******* myself - I am entitled to all Buhner Diffractors, y'know

Its all good. Nice buy you made at a show. Had I and several of the other Master set builders like Richard R not been able to acquire large lots of 1998 TEKs for a dime each, some with diffractors, nobody would have been ever to finish the Master set. Well that and being able to go in backdoor on ebay to contact other bidders to trade 1998 TEK to help each other out. But that was a long time ago Nobody in any of the shops have any 98 TEKs in Houston and I was surprised to find one store in Dallas on a trip there a few months back had 50-100 or so if my memory serves me (Is that right Mansgame?) I was fortunate to pick up 2 diffractors for a second set of 90 diffractors that I have 16 to go and had made no dent in over a year party because a small group on this this board seem to alert everyone whenever one comes up on ebay or COMC for some odd reason.

I really salute Rinkrat for having about 1/3rd of the 8100 diffractors. That is simply amazing. I figure he will be able to finish it by the year 2025 or so... I still look for the same card # pattern#s from time to time and could have used the Lankford for set # 4 (I was a day too late) and I think there was another one on that list a collector (MT) needed for his Master (130 cards to go) set but no word from him so no sense buying or trading for cards I dont need for my own collection. Will chip away and a few condition upgrades (none in the recent lot) if I can but lost interest in cards this year especially in past four months so I dont visit trade board much anymore.

Yes, the store here in Dallas has about 100 singles or so, including some no name diffractors. I'm due for a trip back there soon but want to try and get this trade done here first but it's taking a little while.

Toga, you lost interest in cards or you stopped collecting? Sorry to hear that, have any interest in selling off the Belles ;)

Anyways, good post. I couldn't think how easy it must of been back in the day for this set. Taking a stab at it now a days it so tough.

Also, I have a double of pattern 15 Belle diffractor if you have one for trade because pattern # doesn't matter to you for your set? Let me know, it'd help me out.

Not quit... just slowed down taking a $$$ and time breather . Occasionally still pick up some 2013 Bowman Platinum rack packs at Target.

What are your missing Belles for your set? I seem to have lost or perhaps thrown away the Want Lists of about 15-20 TEK collectors working on their Master sets (there are 2 of them still trying) and a bunch of individual player collectors like yourself. I stopped picking up cards for them when I would buy something to help them out or traded my extras with someone else who had cards they needed only to find they no longer needed the card.

I do like to help other collectors with their sets as set builders are a dieing breed with all the Insert collectors who rip pack after pack and leave the base set cards in the stores. Thats good for store businesses though. So keep up the interest in the 98 TEK. Not bad for a 15 year old set

Never been so stoked to receive a base card before.

The elusive pattern 42 has officially been caught and the 90 base pattern set is complete!

That leaves
2 pre-productions
50 diffractors
and even more impossible than diffractors, 10 pre-production golds to go!
