Im watching the LIVE Riot coverage on CTV Newsnet, Its getting pretty crazy and its still daylight in Vancouver, just wait until it gets dark in another hour or so, then the crazies will really come out.

I hope jarcar is okay out there :o

Thanks, I got home with my family safe. Fortunately I've lived downtown for 18 years I know which areas to use to get away from the crowds.

You must be able to see the action from your window?

Im watching CTV live riot coverage right now and it looks like the Hudson Bay store is on fire now.

I actually live next to the water (the seawall) so it's away from the downtown core. I can smell what's going on but not see it. The pic with the guys beating up the other guy, stuff like that makes me sick. I'd love to be able to shove them all in the portable johns they're fighting next to!

Yeah a guy wearing a Canuck tshirt beating a guy with a Canucks jersey around his waist. What a bunch of idiots, beating each other up.

jarcar any chance you'd want to sell the program? I'd love to get one, and hopefully get a ticket stub down the road.

So, my question is, why were the Vancouver authorities so unprepared for this? For two days people had been openly speculating about riots (win or lose), but nothing was done as a preventative measure? Or, were there measures in place, and this the "best case", and it could have been worse?

I mean, the mayor of Boston isn't exactly a scholar, but they learned from 2004 and it was a relatively peaceful night - of course there are some idiots everywhere, so you can't be 100% clean.

I'm not trying to slam Vancouver, I'm really asking out of curiosity from you guys that are in the area, about what's being said up there.

Unrelated, I have to take my class into Boston to the Aquarium for a field trip tomorrow. I'm seriously considering disappearing for an hour with 6 or 7 of the kids and making our way over to the parade, if it's tomorrow.

EDIT - never mind, just found out it's Saturday.

Just a amazing run for the Bruins. Winning 3 game 7's and taking the Cup on the road in a game 7. Tim Thomas with just an incredible run. Marchand blowing up. Claude proving all the doubters wrong. Great year for the Bruins. So nice seeing a tough physical team get it done. They proved hard work and toughness can win. While Canucks were tough at times, they just didn't have it in the end and stars for them didn't show up with Cup on line. Kesler did though and early in game was best player on ice and almost got that first goal for them and could have turned gaame. He just didn't have help.

The Vancouver police dropped the ball on this. They had a stack of case studies/reports from the last riot and it seems like they had no plan put in place (no extra man-power either). Pretty embarassing. They have set up facebook pages to ID they various thugs.

Congrats to the Bruins fans. I hate that the Boston area wins another championship, but it's nice to see a team win after 40 years. Always good to have an old school team win.

That rioting is ridiculous. I know the majority of Canucks fans, if not all, aren't violent like these thugs were. It looks like they put Canucks uniforms on the anarchists and communist students and let them loose on the streets, win or lose. I'm just curious why the police weren't prepared?

Sorry beefy, I'm hoping to get one of the programs from each home game from the finals and a ticket stub from each game.
