The 2014 Topps (High) Tek Thread

Was hoping for at least Lucroy. Doesn't look like I'll be buying any. I don't need any more Segura, Yount, or Braun cards. Yount is great and all but I'm not about to start chasing his rainbows. Nobody wants Braun right now, and I've already expressed my opinion on Segura. When your team only gets 3 cards in a set, you gotta do better. We had 4 All-stars this year and NONE of them appear here. How am I supposed to get excited about this?

Exactly. No Jim Thome and only 1 Phillies player! I won't be buying any either.

Just busted 2 cases and I can tell singles from this set will be tough. Some pulls & observances.

* The rookie base cards seem to be short-printed, at least in my small sample. I got none or 1 of any rookie.

* I pulled 2 1/1 from each case I opened. The "Printing Proofs" are darn ugly.

* My 1/1 pulls were Canseco Charcoal Galactic Diffractor Auto, Ernie Banks Charcoal Galactic Diffractor Auto, Paul Goldschmidt Printing Proof (Looks like Magenta if they did the 4 colors) & Chris Sale.

* Autos pulled:

Nomar, Owings, Goldschmidt 1/1, Napoli, Glavine /50, El Duque (2 base & 1 /25), Longoria /50, Taveras, Canseco (1/1 & base), Cespedes X2, Pendleton (1 base & 1 base SIGNED 2X!), Edgar Martinez /25, Eddie Butler, Wacha /50, Heyward, Polanco, Vizquel, Yordano Ventura, Phillips /50.

* I got 1 or none of many base cards.

* No Belles ;-)

I must say that I'm very intrigued by this product. My autos are listed on Ebay, and I'm making $1 MB Player lots with every other single, which will be listed tonight. In my 2 cases I averaged about 2 varieties of each player. My Ebay ID is go-bassn.

I will post break picks in a bit, it was fun. Have a question on a card. I will post the pick when i get home from picking up the kids. I pulled a max auto /10, but he signed it on both sides. Bad luck or happy accident??

I've been noticing a lot of the auto. cards are streaky. The Wacha above seems to be the norm for many signatures. I had to buy this Galarraga because the sig isn't streaky and surprisingly I have no Galarraga autos. in my collection in a Rockies uni. Best $30 I ever spent!

Uh, so is Derek Jeter not included in the base checklist? He must have gotten bumped for Yangervis Solarte!! No hits for Jeter on eBay, though in the posted list he has a diffractor version and one other insert...
