That Belle Tektonics is a buyback or a redesigned diffractor, no? It looks nothing like the Tektoniks inserts I pulled from my cases. You might want to jump on that sucker, as its clearly not labeled correctly...

What? I don't think it is a buy-back, that doesn't look anything like the 1998 Tek cards. Is that what you mean or do you mean it can be turned in as a redemption?

EDIT...

Okay, so if your guy has a base card, there is the base which will be based on either AL or NL jersey but from there, they'll have eight parallels and then four printing plates (one of each of the four colors).

From there, your guy would have one of each of the other 10 parallels which are not S# but are SP and that is undisclosed but they indicate which seem to be more rare than the next.

Interesting. I think I have the master checklist figured out for Belle.

what exactly is a re-created design diffractor
as I opened a case and do not know what Im looking for...
View attachment 43476

I believe its anyone of the actual numbered parallels
Gold Diffractor #/99, Ice Diffractor #/75, Disco Diffractor #/50, Clouds Diffractor #/25, Black & White Image #/15, Red Storm Diffractor #/10, Blue Dots Diffractor #/5, Charcoal Galactic Diffractor 1/1, Printing Proofs 1/1

Topps guarantees a 'case hit' auto parallel of the black and white or lower , or a Tek buyback.

I don't think I have refreshed an eBay search so many times during a new release day for any other product so far this year. I feel pretty confident I know what the market for RJ cards is, and how to wait out inserts/parallels and what the price points are for autos. But when you get a set that the dreaded 'builders' are likely to chomp into, things get murky. This happened with the Finest Greats autos when people started going after BGS10 gold sets & such where prices get much higher & supply runs out very quickly. Praying for more low BIN prices that I've seen out there today, before people starting getting these in hand & decide to pony up for sets, etc. I've only managed to pick up a gold /99 diffractor so far for $10 which based on other /99 cards from '14 releases is an amazing day 1 price. Just need more opportunities like that on some of the rarer red/blue parallels.

....but its a fun product and I was pretty happy with my boxes... :p

You mean I shouldn't take an offer of $99 for it? ;)
I've been lurking around FCB long enough to read a lot of Vizquelfan's posts....lol

Cheers
Ed

I'd love to see it in the hands of a fellow member.

Very pretty card and congrats to whoever bought it! There's just no way I could justify that kind of money for a baseball card. But very glad to have seen (and grabbed) a scan!

I hope you held pretty firm on your price because I think you could have gotten the $3K.

wait, when did eBay ended auctions stop sorting high-to-low by actual sell price, they just sort by the BINOBO price on stuff for me right now? Can't even guestimate best offer accepted price by what ended prices they're between now, cripes.

Looks to me like 6 of the patterns are AL only and the other 6 are NL. Is this what you guys are seeing, too? Or is it just the 2 base patterns being AL and NL and the rest parallel the entire 100 card set?

That's what I'm seeing as well.

I don't like that most of the parallels all use the spirals or wave background pattern. I swear the clouds and disco effects may have looked better with a plain background or none at all. Plus some of the groovy base patterns don't get any parallel at all.

But the more I'm understanding this set the more I'm liking it. I don't know if everything they did was purposeful, but by having some non-numbered rarities in there they are creating their own "mystique" in the Tek universe. In a way, this set is reminding me of 2000 Pacific Prism where the patterns aren't named on the cards and you have to recognize the patterns to understand the rarities.

I could not help myself and finally bought three (non-auto) diffractors last night. Frank /50 for $11, Giancarlo /50 for $9, and Nolan Ryan /75 for $13. Already regretting that last buy, but I'm happy about the other two.

Only 3 RJ patterns have hit ebay so far: Spiral Brick, Grid and Pipes (2nd rarest according to CBC, BIN $5.99 ) Picked up all 3, will update when more appear.
