Any reports from someone that went?
Paul, I will hit you up tomorrow when I get there.

I went today. Had to leave early for work so I will try to get back tomorrow or Sunday. A lot of vintage as usual. I actually thought there were more modern cards this time than at any of the past 3-4 years though so that was a nice surprise.A lot of people seemed to be looking for Jorge Soler. The Soler superfractor was there and the guy got it graded (came back a 9). Good turnout though I thought. Beckett was still there as well as JSA and Mr. Mint. Good traffic but I heard several dealers complaiing that they didnt sell anything and that no one was looking to spend money. I think tomorrow will be better cause its Saturday and more people will probably go.

For the guys here setting up, who are you and where are you set up?

I will see you tomorrow Kevin!

Hey guys:

Quick report (I am exhausted, long day today)

* Saw John first thing this morning, greeting at check-in. Was able to chat with him a little later on. Looking forward to more this weekend.
* Seymour was there with wax, and maybe one other dealer with newer wax. My buddy has a case or two of 2012 Bowman Chrome he is selling.
* Lots of dealers, despite PSA claiming the show was cancelled (shake my fist at you PSA). I counted maybe one or two spots not filled today.
* For a Friday, a good show. Turnout was a little lighter than last year, but that could be a number of factors. I was consistently busy from about 11am (with dealers) until about 5pm, when I had a chance to roam around.
* Didn't see much out there that interested me, but I am looking to sell a lot this weekend, so buying wasn't an objective today. Have a couple of deals brewing.
* Keith (klute): Talked to John Ryan about your needs. Hopefully he remembers.
* John and I joked about having some sort of FCB sign or whatever. Since I have no FCB garb, I can tell you that when you walk in, go straight. I am on an end on the left, maybe a row or two before the bleachers. I have cheap game used and half price goes on the end cap and a shelving unit with junk wax and signed footballs/helmets/etc. I'll have a Pats hat on. Worst case, find John (jflan) and he'll point me out.
* Off to make some more boxes for tomorrow. Stop by and say hi!

Keith: Got a nice box of stuff for you!!!

Bumping this up as a reminder for today. Doors at 9am!! Hope to see FCB'ers there. I got on a red shirt, shorts, Pats hat and am on a corner in the main aisle when you walk in the door (just go straight). Even if you don't buy something, at least say hi!

getting ready to make the trek up there.. I'll be the only guy at the show wearing a Canseco Jersey so no doubt I'll stick out enough for anyone here to know who I am.

Great to see some FCBers today. 40/40 and his brother rickeyfanatic, klute, and of course bigpops.

Mallcop and Bill M, I kept an eye out for you, but missed you. Maybe next time we can plan something better. Maybe a FCB table???

Quick update: today started slow, but seemed to pick up towards noon. There were a few less auto guests today due to weather and scheduling, which may have contributed to the slower start. Still saw lots of people with bags in their hands, so I know the money is moving and people are spending, just not quite sure what they are buying. I got to spend some time watching Pedro do some signings, which was pretty cool. He had a long line, stayed extra late for the public and then went to sign the private and pre-order stuff. Super cool guy and always had a smile, even when he seemed to be tired.
I personally have my eye on a nice vintage. If I pull the trigger I will post a pic. I plan on spending some dough tomorrow on some wax and a couple of singles.
Signers for Sunday are Doug Mientkiewicz, Ellis Burks, Ricky Gutierrez, Aaron Hernandez and Troy Brown, John Bucyk and Shawn Thronton. I expect Doug, Aaron, Troy and Shawn to be big draws, so hopefully the crowd will show, especially since it is a Pats bye week.

Anyone going on Sunday? If any FCBers are around let me know tonight and I have a couple of free passes available. We can arrange something for tomorrow.

Thanks,

Day 2 Report:

As John said, it was a slow start. A lot slower than has been the norm. But it definitely picked up as the day went along. I know for me, I was consistently busy from around 11am to about 4pm. That was awesome.

My big sellers have been out of my 1/2 price boxes and my cheap auto/game used boxes. I also have been moving some signed memorabilia (local guys from Pats and Bruins) as well as junk wax.

To give you an idea, my sales for today nearly MATCHED my sales for the three days last year. Part is because of how diverse I have become (half price box, more to look through) than I have been. I spent two full days this week organizing for the show, and I think the sales show that it was worth it.

Got to see and spend time with Keith (klute14) and we made a nice deal that I believe we are both happy with. And I have a feeling it is one of a series of deals over the next few months. Also made a nice deal with Bill, who spent a while at the table chatting with myself and my dealer friend I am set up with (we have two spots). Also got to put a name to 40/40 (reaping the Canseco jersey!) and rickeyfanatic.

John and I have spent a lot of time chatting the last two days, and he has made sure board people have found me. It is nice to put faces to screen names.

Tomorrow is the final day and this weekend has flown by. Hopefully some that haven't popped into the show yet do come by. At worst, to walk around, and take John up on his free pass. It will save you $7 admission, and I can almost guarantee that you guys will have a blast walking around and seeing stuff that is available. And Sunday has been a "discount" day in the past, where some dealers look to unload stuff that they don't want to take home with them or are trying to salvage sales from the weekend.

See you in the AM John, and hopefully some of you throughout the day.

Kevin

Kind of OT but does Dwight Evans ever sign at this show or any others up around there? He's the only one I need on the ball I have wanting to get the trio of Rice, Lynn, and Evans.

This show is very vintage heavy. There isn't much modern stuff, but it was still fun and there are many boxes to look through. I spent from 10-2 there today and had a good time.I already put everything away so no scans of the pick ups, but I got 36 Bowman Chrome Autos I need for sets (best one being a 2006 Justin Upton) and a bunch of refractors just because I like them. Best deal to me was a 2010 Bowman Chrome Draft Josh Rutledge Blue Refractor RC for fifty cents. Total damage was $185 for me.

Nice to chat with bigpops and some other dealers I haven't seen in a long time - Lisa from Evolution Sports Marketing is super nice to deal with and I only see her once a year at this show. Scotty was there too from LTD sports (shop in Westport, MA) and it was great to chat with him for a bit too.

I have seen Evans sign at a couple of charity events, but have not seen him at any shows recently. Sorry. If I see any announcements I will keep you in mind.

Sorry that I missed you. Maybe next year we will have to have some kind of shirt or flag or something to identify board members.

Great. PM coming for the passes!

Sorry, I have not been checking on cases of anything. Maybe one of the other board members?

Thanks,

The stinky fat dude in tie dyed shirt was something me and my brother were laughing about long after we left the show.. I can't even understand how you can spend hundreds of dollars on cards but not buy a $2 bar of soap.
