My main time for opening packs or boxes was in the early 90s when they were more economical and there really weren't any big hits to find. What was the big pull in 1993 Leaf or 1994 Upper Deck (edit: oh yeah, the Mantle/Griffey autos. Never got any of those)? Probably my best pull was either a 1993 BBM Hideo Nomo from 1998 Bowman (1:3250 packs or so), a 500 Goal Club stick card of Mike Gartner(?) (I can't even remember who, but I sold it for $100), or a President's Edition #/10 of Russell Branyan from 1998 SP Top Prospects. As boxes got more expensive, and the powerball cards more valuable, I had less and less luck. No mortgage-payment type cards, just cheap cards, according to the odds. Strangely, I would have decent luck buying a random pack here and there, pulling a $20 card from 1 or 2 $4 packs, but that's it. This continues with Magic, which is my foil-wrapped crack of choice for the past few years.

Oh, but how could I forget this extremely profitable trip to the card shop:

I really should have sold that laPorta.

Pulled this from a $200 case of the product. It sold within minutes after listing for $600 to a buyer from Japan. It was his first Certified Auto.

Pulled this from a box. If I recall, it sold for a little more then $200.

Also pulled this from a box. I was offered $800 for it and foolishly turned it down, instead going the auction route. I ended up getting $600+. Not a bad haul but what could have been.....

First GU card I ever pulled. 2001 my first year back into the game. 1 pack at the shop of my childhood.

The hook not only was set, but ripped my entire face off.

Still a very very strong card. Last sold for $500 on eBay (none right now).

Some of my favorites. Sorry for the different sizes. Apparently I don't know what I'm doing!

I don't open that much and have never hit a GIANT card, the most valuable was a 1999 Stadium Club Peyton Manning/Tim Couch (remember him?) Co-Signers that I sold for $200. I have pulled several $100-175 cards in the last 5 years but nothing to top that.

I pulled a Byron Buxton auto /50 from a 2013 Bowman Chrome Blue Wave pack, and a Joey Gallo Purple Ref auto /10 from a 2012 Bowman Draft jumbo (bought two packs at the store that day). Sold both for $500. Next best was a Pujols auto /10 from some 2014 Topps subset (don't even remember what it was), that one went for over $400 on ebay. Scans are long gone, but their legacies live on in the great cards I was able to buy with the money.

I have a few big money pulls.

I just got back into collecting in 2007. I used to collect when I was a kind collecting in the late 80's early 90's and knew nothing about it.
Bought a few packs from the LCS of 2007 SP Authentic and pulled a redemption for the Derek Jeter Complete Name Set #/2
I redeemed the redemption and wound up getting #1 /2. I sold it at a local card show for $2,225. That money helped pay for my wedding.

Next Big Pull was a 2010 Bowman Chrome USA Manny Machado Superfractor. Pulled from the last 4 packs at a local LCS.
Sold it at auction for $1,225.00 to Wossa.

The last exciting Big Pull was a 2010 Bowman Sterling Jason Heyward Red Refractor Auto 1/1
Was at the local card show and opened one box of bowman sterling and pulled it.
Later sold it on ebay for around $1,100?? I dont remember.

lol, good for you! I would have also but then again, I'm the guy who sold the Kershaw superfractor the moment I pulled it

Right, I mean who knows how it will turn out but as of right now I feel good about moving it when I did and for how much.

I was lucky enough to pull the prime cuts "Ruth" card. And it just happened to be the patch version

Pulled this ripping a case of update. Best part was having a bunch of members here watching the U stream while I was breaking.
