"Butch Davis announces that a true freshman will be the starting quarterback for the UNC Tar Heels - Donovan Tate."

And Chris don't worry, if he comes here, I'll get you an autograph.

It sounds like Tate will indeed by the QB for the Tar Heels. I doubt he'll be starting as a freshman though. Maybe Davis told him that to lure him from signing a big league contract.

What would you guys honestly do? Sign a multi-million dollar deal after being drafted in the 1st round OR play football/baseball at UNC??? I know I'm probably not in the majority but I'd choose college. I remember having the time of my life at UCLA and I wasn't even a college athlete!

Tate needs to slip past San Francisco first who picks right before Atlanta. Even though both teams had the same record last season. Tate is what the Giants are in need of and look for in the draft, athletic 5-tool outfielder. Also BA's mock draft has Tate to SF. Scheppers? No thanks MLB Outsider bloggers.

According to a reliable source, the Giants will pick Tate. That source is me, via my preliminary prediction in your contest thread.

You think you had the "time of your life" at college??? Just imagine the feeling of having several million dollar's in the bank when you were that age (speak of having "the time of your life"- WHEW!)...I thank God I didn't have that kind of money when I was an irresponsible youth, I'd literally not be alive today (I'm sure of it)!

I've said this for months....no way Tate slips past SF. He's a extremely more talented Fred Lewis with amazing upside.

Trust me, if I had millions from the age of 18 I wouldn't be breathing. I did quite a bit of everything back in the day. But I think he'll end up being a better ball player if he went to UNC. There are countless guys projected as superstars after high school who end up as bums. I think I read on BA that the success rate of living up to the hype out of high school was 14% but those that went the route of college ended being better everyday ball players?

Odd that the Tate lovers haven't paid attention to his season to see he isn't even in the Top 5 position preps right now. Don't you kinda wonder why he his camp has requested his perfectgameusa stats to be removed because someone keeps updating them ? Its similiar to Grant Green, people just dont want to let it to.

What is your source on him not being considered a Top 5 position prep, and also that anyone has asked PG to hide or remove his numbers? Jim Ecker had a story on him at PG May 4 and listed his stats. Don't know why anyone would want a .493/10/36 line with 21 SB's covered up.

Try to find Tates stats and post them. Not sayig Tate will not be something but hit and miss one day and clobbering everything the next doesn't translate to being a Top 10 pick with a 6 million dollar price tag.....

Also, 493/10/36 doesn't tell the whole story of your season.

The top 5 preps based on projection and results from this year:

1. Matt Davidson
2. Wil Myers
3. Brian Goodwin
4. LeVon Washington
5. Everett Williams

Well I posted his stats as of May 4th above according to PG. But the point is moot - it is a very difficult task to track down stats for a large number of prep players. I actually spoke to Nathan Rode at BA about that very subject last year when I was looking for another players stats and he said it is a difficult task even for them to track down, let alone anyone not in the industry.
But again, the question really was what source is that coming from that anyone is trying to cover up his numbers, and where are those Top 5 projections from?
Not that Tate isn't enigmatic or a risk, but the spread of misinformation to illustrate said point isn't productive.

Finding my brothers high school stats should be hard online not a potential Top 10 pick that is attracting 20-30 scouts per game on the road.
