Thanks everyone for the info on the Griffey cameos. I started sorting some commons yesterday, this should be fun.

Ok guys/gals looking for opinions so I can close the book on this for myself. I have these Boggs cards (base-museum-proof) that I have has in my Clark Cameo Collection. They had ended up on a few Clark Collectors CL so they found their way to mine and I added them.

Question being, do any of you feel that's Will Clark in the background, I don't. I cant tell if that is a glove or his hand either. To me it looks like a pitcher or someone from another team besides Texas from Spring Training or something like the Reds or something.

Anyways, yes or no to Clark?

No, there's not anyway to prove or verify it. I like cameo's but that one is a stretch.

I don't think you could see the first baseman from that angle

I'm gonna scrap it... I basically had never considered it but never had taken it off my CL, now the big decision has been made. ;)

I pissed Andre Dawson's name in the snow (I have really good control). It melted, but I collected some in these vials. Only $5 each, how many can I put you down for?

Did you take a picture of his name in snow? I can get Tanner to put the picture on cardboard and we can encapsulate some of the melted snow like the dirt cards lol

Kirby Puckett Cameos

It seemed to me that with the volume of games played, there had to be more Kirby Puckett cameo appearances out there than what I had in my collection.

The ones I previously had in my collection:

1988 Panini Sticker Alan Trammell #444
1988 Fleer World Series Kent Hrbek #9
1988 Fleer World Series Glossy Kent Hrbek #9
1994 Leaf Alan Trammel #120
1994 Pinnacle Dave Winfield #332
1994 Pinnacle Dave Winfield Museum Collection #332
1994 Pinnacle Dave Winfield Artist Proof #332
1996 Donruss Pedro Munoz #196
1996 Donruss Pedro Munoz Press Proof #196
1996 Donruss Chuck Knoblauch #536
1996 Donruss Chuck Knoblauch Press Proof #536
(1996 Finest Mystery Ripken/Gwynn (Kind of a Cameo, but different I suppose))

So I did a bunch of digging primarily on Twinscards.com and COMC, with some help from Retrosheet and random box scores to remind me who most frequently batted in front of him.

I came up with 6 new cameos. 3 of which I feel pretty good about, 3 of which I think are tougher to prove.

SuperCollector.com’s Cameo Compulsion Category

1990 Publications International John Moses #333

Evidence For: Looks like Puckett’s body shape, skin color, there’s a “3” on the front of the jersey, team’s roster in 1989 makes it even more unlikely it’s anybody else based on that “3.”

Evidence Against: It’s freaking small and the face is obstructed.

1991 Stadium Club Pedro Munoz #318 (There are C* and D* print variations)

Evidence For: Looks like Puckett’s body shape, skin color, batting helmet confirms it is a right handed hitter. Some of these cards are printed a little lighter and show a bit of a goatee better, and some are cut a little more to the left, so more of him shows up.

Evidence Against: It’s blurry, and those darn spring training/batting practice uniforms don’t have front numbers.

1994 Upper Deck Pat Meares #501 (There is an Electric Diamond variation)

Evidence For: Puckett’s body shape, skin color, glove on the left hand, makes sense that he is trotting in a bit to backup on a ground ball to shortstop, and the photo is taken from the 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] base camera well.

Evidence Against: It’s blurry.

SuperCollector.com’s Cameo Fetish Category

1992 Donruss Greg Gagne #204

Evidence For: Puckett’s body shape, skin color, glove on the left hand, makes sense that he is trotting in a bit to backup on a throw from third to second for a double play, and the photo is taken from the 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] base camera well.

Evidence Against: It’s blurry, no front uni number, tough to say for sure.

27189660726_d4973653bc_z.jpg

1994 Fleer Gene Larkin #211

Evidence For: Puckett’s body shape, skin color, batting helmet is tough to decipher, but it looks like it is for a righty.

Evidence Against: Blurry, obstructed, tough to say for sure.

26618277733_2616f2a289_z.jpg

1995 Collector’s Choice SE Shane Mack #228 (On the bench on the back) (There are Silver and Gold variations)

Evidence For: Puckett’s body shape, skin color, and just the way the jersey rests on his chest, it suggests Puckett.

Evidence Against: Blurry, small, and it looks like a spring training game on the road against Montreal (based on the catcher). Did star players travel more back then for spring training games than they do now? Often times in Florida these days it seems like the stars don’t make the bus trips.

I have extras of a few of these six cards. If anybody needs some, let me know. Obviously, they’re commons.

If anybody knows of other Puckett cameos, please let us Puckett collectors know, thanks!!
