... do they just quietly slink back into the Cheesehead fold? Pretend like they never renounced their GB roots?

What are the people in Green Bay seeing?

I'll bite.... As I'm kinda one of those.

Favre basically got pushed out of GB, and I for one had only seen the Packers do well with Favre at QB. It was nothing against Rodgers even thoufg he has turned out much better than I thought. Its just the way it all worked out.

The Packer season, at least for me was not as exciting. Part of it might have had to do with all the injuries. It felt like a lost season. The feeling is nothing like '96 when you just knew they were the best and were rolling.

I think even the Favre supporters who gave up some loyaly to GB wants the Packers to win it all. Its like us against the world in THE smallest market. A team without an owner per se. We want to keep the name TITLETOWN, USA alive.

Thanks for the informative reply. I can understand exactly where you're coming from.

I guess I was curious whether the fans who stuck with the Packers (over Favre) were giving the defectors any grief.

No, I don't think there much grief given. Favre was "our guy" for such a long time there's a "pass" given on him.

Coming from a local pack fan, they probably will slink back because personally I think they're spineless. Anyone who would ever think about rooting for the Vikings (or Bears) arent real Packer fans. They're the same people who wear their Favre Viks jerseys to packer fridays at work. In my book, theres no flip flopping.

From what I understand, the fans, management, coaches, etc. all thought Rodgers was the right move for the club after Favre started acting utterly child-like.

If you were a Favre fan, though, I can understand why you'd start cheering for the local team if he retired. I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

A lot of people say, "My favourite player is X, but I'm a X fan." This happened a lot this year with LT and SD. People started cheering for players rather than teams about 5-10 years ago.

I'm a Packers fan who purchased a Favre Vikings jersey in 2009. Vikings can go back to mediocrity now. If they are bad enough next season they might be in Luck.

Rodgers is great, as was Favre last year, but the two best defenses are playing in the super bowl this year.

I don't know if I can deal with another year of those puns.

I am definetly a huge fan of Favre. There was actually a column written about me in Favre's first SI retirement issue. The column read "Troops in Afghanistan". When he went to Minnesota I was upset with choice of team. But estatic knowing that Favre would still be on the television Sunday's and Monday's. Thru the whole NYJ and Minn escapade I was still a devote and completly loyal Packer fan losing absolutley no love for my team or any of the players or coaches. Although obviously I still wanted either of the two teams Favre competed for to win on a weekly basis. When it came down to Minn, NYJ against the packers I wanted Favre to throw for 600 yds 8TD's but the packers to win the game. I am going to miss him........ Sunday's are going to be less exciting.

Actually I decided years ago that whatever team Brett Favre retired with would be my favorite team. So now that he is retired i am going to stick to my word. I bought a Jared Allen jersey at the begining of this season when someone ask who my favorite team is without hesitation i answer The Minnesota Vikings then when they say well why i name off about 25-30 players. LETS GO VIKINGS....In the 2011-2012 season

Favre was not pushed out of GB for the record! He "retired"at the end of each year only to try and miss training camp. The last time he did it GB just drafted 2 QBs. GB finally had enough of him holding a gun to their head and moved on. Had he never pulled his crap, he probably would still be there, and Rodgers would have been traded by now because they never would have had the chance to see his talent. Favre is an "all about me" player just as much as T.O., or Randy Moss.
