Brewers resign Hoffman.

Good to see them waste no time. It was thier best signing last year (if you don't count getting McGehee on waivers) and I really like seeing him pitch. Actually, what I REALLY like is the fact that Hoffman can still make even the best hitters look like rookies. Everyone knows what he has, and they screw it up anyway.

Nice. Now give Prince some money and I'll be happy.

We all know this is never going to happen. And I am sad.

I know. It's wishful thinking.

Hey! He's got a contract for next year and an arbitration year in 2011. Let's not talk about their eventual fumbling of his contract so we can lose him to a big city team right now.

Great news about Hoffman. Now if they can only get him some save opportunities next year with some half-way decent starting pitching.

Are you all in agreement with me when I say it'll be ridiculous if Hoffman doesn't make the Hall.

So when will Prince Fielder become a DH in the AL? In one year or two?

100% shoo-in (barring some steroid controversy that seems very unlikely).

The modern game has become entrenched with the belief that closers are vital to a team's success. Stats like Hoffman's will not go ignored, even if the Hall has disregarded non-starters in the past.

Well I agree he should be a shoo-in, but I also thought Blyleven was a shoo-in(3,700 K's, 280+ Wins, 240+ CG, 2 WS wins,) and he's on his 14th year now. Its a shame he hasn't made it because he has #'s of a firt ballot HOFer IMO

It would be a shame to see him snubbed like Blyleven has been

Just don't think that's likely. And thanks for correctly using the phrase I misspelled.

Being a Reds fan I would think you'd notice that Prince drastically improved on his defense and had less errors than (7) last years gold glove recepient Albert Pujols (13).

I guess it is a good thing Brewer fans have something to look forward to other than the eventual trade of clubhouse threatening boy.

Dude isn`t getting any skinnier. That isn`t going to help matters if he wants to be an everyday position player.

As a Padre fan, I thought he was treated very poorly in his last contract negotiations.

I think Trevor and Mariano Rivera are both first ballot HOFers.

It's sad how much Prince Fielder seems to affect YOUR manhood... ::facepalm::

EVERYONE knows that he's not better than Albert, yet you seem to treat ANY praise thrown Prince's way as an afront to Pujols. Albert is a great baseball player, DESPITE fans like you...

Yes, but this thread wasn`t praise being thrown toward Prince. It was intended as a slight toward the Cardinals from the title on......ignorantly I might add. Anyone who watched the game who has ANY sense knows why the Cardinals didn`t pitch to the Prince in that instance. And to bitch about it is totally ridiculous.........which is what the OP was doing.

You do see his point though right? This thread was about TREVOR HOFFMAN. Someone brought up Prince, someone else said his defense wasn't that bad, and then YOU felt the need to slam Prince not once, but TWICE.

That was my only point: your hating on Prince goes so deep as to dig him even when the thread isn't about him... ::facepalm::

I came back to this thread because frankly I couldn't understand how it lasted this long. Here's the point where it went bad gained some life.

Sam, no knock on just you, but seriously this was about Hoffman and you're wondering why he Brewer fans like myself take a little offense to your treatment of Fielder?

Let's all try not to derail in the future. Thanks.
