Alright everyone... trying to bring some fun to the shatty gas prices.

I have a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer that I am going to fill up with gas. It is currently at about 1/4 tank (tank size approx 21 gallons).

RIGHT NOW Gas is $3.43 / gallon.

How much will it cost to fill my tank?

1 guess per person, closest without going over wins.

Tiebreaker- Closest to my mileage on my vehicle without going over.

I'm going to let this run until 5 PM tomorrow. At that time, I will post the receipt and announce the winner.

Prize TBD.


Alright, so the winner, with a guess of $60.44 was Johnny G! The adjusted answer (see post on page 8) was $60.61.

I decided to give a prize out for closes to mileage also, which was bricewaynebisel, with a guess of 135,335, only 367 miles off of the mileage of 135,702.

I think it will make you $54.19 to fill it up. I am sure you know the gas prices changes everyday, so I suppose you are going to fill it up today at $3.43...

My tiebreaker is a toughie... Your car is 14 years old, so I am guessing your car has seen roughly 160,000 miles...

My Wife has a 1999 Mountaineer. Puts on alot of miles for work she is at 194,000.
