My favorite Hockey news of the year (similar to how the Baseball prospectors love their BA hot 100). The Future Watch issue rank's the NHL's top 50 prospects and also each teams top 10 prospects. The Future Watch top 50 ranking is a blend of ratings provided by a panel of 23 NHL scouts.

Heres what this years cover looks like...

very nice, i wanna see Washingtons

Ok, sorry about the delay there. You guys got a couple real gems. John Carlson is #5 overall and 2008's CHL defensemen of the year, Karl Alzner is #18. Pretty scary to think that the Caps are only gonna get better in the next couple of years, with their wealth of young talent.

The Washington Capitals top 10 prospects...

1. John Carlson-5th overall
2. Karl Alzner-18th overall
3. Michal Neuvirth-30th overall
4. Marcus Johansson-60th overall
5. Mathieu Perreault
6. Braden Holtby
7. Stefan Della Rovere
8. Dmitri Orlov
9. Anton Gustafsson
10. Oskar Osala

I think you know which one I want to see Bilko

Oh man, back in the day we used to absolutely rule these hot lists, not so much anymore, but the good thing is, is all of Pittsburgh's top prospects have all turned into NHL stars, if not superstars for the most part. Fleury and Malkin both had at least one #1 overall ranking!!!

Here's the Penguins Top 10 prospects....

Their highest Prospect ranks 65th overall...

1.Eric Tangradi- 65th overall
2.Luca Caputi
3.Simon Despres
4. Dustin Jeffery
5.Philip Samuelsson
6.Robert Bortuzzu
7.Brian Strait
8.Ben Hanowski
9.Keven Veilleux
10.Alex Velischek

No one really to get excited about on our list Dave :(

Would love to see Vancouver's. Thanks Bilko

Vancouver has one big guy to get excited about, Cody Hodgson. On Last years list Hodgson, was the #2 ranked prospect overall. Only Nikita Fliatov ranked higher. This year, Hodgson would easily rank #1 if he did not hurt his back. He hasn't played since last September, when he played in 6 of the Nucks preseason games!!

1.Cody Hodgson-4th overall
2.Cory Schneider-G-20th overall
3.Jordan Schroeder-57th overall
4.Mike Grabner
5.Sergei Shirokov
6.Anton Rodin
7.Evan Oberg
8.Kevin Connauton
9.Yann Sauve
10.Peter Andersson

Boston will be snickering in June when they are drafting Toronto's #1 draft pick. A pick that is gonna be very high, probably in the top 4. Then they will have a Top Prospect of their own :D

Thanks Bilko!

I'm interested to see how Hodgson does next year. Is he still injured? I was hoping he would have played for Team Canada this year but he couldn't rehab his back in time.

With Edmonton drafting Hall/Seguin, and having Eberle ready to go, we could see Cogliano/Gagner out in Edmonton. The Oilers need some size at center and have to many smallish forwards.

I know i'm in the minority, but I just don't think Ryan Ellis is going to be a great NHLer. I know everyone in Canada loves him, but I just can't see him becoming an adequate defensman in the NHL. Maybe a PP specialist, but that's it.

Tangradi has been injured quite a bit in his short time with the Pens but hopefully he can get straightened out. Despres is having a pretty solid season in Juniors. so at least they might turn out to be nice additions over the next 2 seasons.

Blackhawks please

yes sir. The Blackhawks are another team that dominated the hot list a few years back with guys like Kane, Toews, Keith and Seabrook. They still do have a top prospect in their system (Jack Skille, 2005 7th overall draft pick) that should start playing full time, next year perhaps.

1.Jack Skille-47th overall
2.Corey Crawford-goalie
3.Kyle Beach
4.Bryan Bickell
5.Akim Aliu
6.Marcus Kruger
7.Dylan Olsen
8.Shawn Lalonde
9.Bill Sweatt
10.Brandon Pirri
