What a piece of ... yeah. Someone just needs to beat the living hell out of him.
Evander Kane already did

Good point...someone now needs to do it so it sticks with him, cause clearly Kane's beaten didn't make him stop.

I'm interested to see how Mario defends this one (if he does), or if he casually just ignores it...I mean, he didn't think the NHL did a good job punishing the Isles, I'm curious as to what he'll think is a "good" punishment for Cooke!

both Lemieux and GM Ray Shero have been very outspoken about eliminating head shots in the last few weeks so I would hope that one of them makes a statement tomorrow regarding Cooke's blatant elbow.

Coach Dan Bylsma certainly wasn't happy about it and mentioned that the organization has talked about head shots recently and that they can't overlook this incident.

Flames were down 3-0 earlier, now Jarome Iginla just scored for the Flames to take a 4-3 lead, with 10 minutes to go.

This is a huge game, both teams are tied for points right now.

BTW the Flames are resting Kipper tonight, Henrik Karlsson is in net.

Ducks win the game in OT. Can't remember who scored it but Getzlaf won the face-off and made a cool pass with his skate to set up the winner.

it was Corey Perry.

Blake Geoffrion recorded his 1st career Hat Trick as the Preds beat the Sabres 4-3 in OT. Erat had the GWG.

Martin Brodeur recorded his 115th career Shutout with a 3-0 win against the Blue Jackets.

They weren't resting Kipper. He was pulled after the 3 early goals

20 years ago today Quebec's Ron Tugnutt made an amazing 70 saves on 73 shots faced against the Boston Bruins. Tugnutt's 70 saves and 73 shots faced were and still are both the second most in NHL history. the NHL record is held by Chicago Blackhawks goalie Sam LoPresti. he made 80 saves on 83 shots faced on March 4, 1941 (also against the Bruins).

it made me feel old to think it's been 20 years and I remember seeing the highlights on Sports Center that night.

yeah i was in grade 8 or grade 9 at the time and i still can remember the next school day. There was about 6 or 7 of us that were pretty big Nords fans at the time and we were all busting our Nords gear at school, talking about the "legend" Tugnutt, lol

Matt Cooke has been suspended for the rest of this season 10 games and the 1st Round of the Playoffs.

as much as it will suck for the Pens to lose Cooke and his Penalty killing ability it's about time the NHL gets a suspension right.

----------------------------------------------------------

Pens GM Ray Shero's statement on the Cooke suspension...

“The suspension is warranted because that’s exactly the kind of hit we’re trying to get out of the game. Head shots have no place in hockey. We’ve told Matt in no uncertain terms that this kind of action on the ice is unacceptable and cannot happen. Head shots must be dealt with severely, and the Pittsburgh Penguins support the NHL in sending this very strong message.”

And props to Shero for his statement in backing up the NHL's decision.
