The Journey of an E-bay Package through USPS

I've noticed the PO having more and more issues over the last several months (they "lost" a justcommons package for about a month, most recently), so thought I'd share the current journey of a card that's enroute. I live in Phoenix of course, which you'll see it made brief stop in a couple weeks ago. Can't wait to see if it actually makes it back here!

Anyone else having extreme USPS issues lately? I know there was bad weather slowing things down a bit this winter, but my problems have gone way beyond that.

Wow
I would think at first it was a zip punch error, that sent it to ID. But then I see it arrived in AZ, but to only be sent back to ID and now it is cruising around ID again. So now I'm not even sure why this is happening to this package. 83xxx is not like they transposed a few numbers since AZ is 85xxx.

Good luck man. But I don't see this making it to you before late April :lol:

I'm waiting on a couple packages that were sent out about 3 weeks ago. One was just sent regular mail in an envelope, from CA to IL, and is a no-show so far. The other was an in-state package about the same time. I've been hearing a lot of really slow transit times the last month or so, so I'm still holding out hope, but it fades with every passing day.

I just last week received a card I bought three weeks prior from a guy in North Dakota..
It scanned in ND, then GUAM then Hawaii, Washington and finally at my box
In southeast alaska

I shipped a package and it says out for delivery 16 days ago. The buyer said the PO said the package was delivered but it was never scanned arrived at unit. I hope he gets the card because it was a rare Jeter card.

Glad to see I'm not the only one!

It's still moving, at least in the semi-right direction, so I do have some hope that it'll still reach me. But it has been at that same spot in Idaho for 5 days now, so I am starting to lose a bit of hope. Not a super high dollar card, maybe $30, but sure would like it.

Now that I look at the zip codes, I think this was definitely the case. My zip code is 85226 and that Idaho one is 83226 - it didn't even occur to me it might have been that kind of error, but I definitely think that's what was going on. Now i don't know if that's the PO punching in the wrong zip code or the seller, but something is definitely up with that.

At least yours are tracking I have had at least 2 (brought to my attention by my buyers) That show I created a label, then show my post office accepted and then both times just over a week they show delivered. Nothing in between.

one large flat rate from Colorado full of cards , rec. 2/3 full with someone else's mail in my box . You could tell it had been re-taped .

I used to live in northern Alabama (don't ask). A regular stamped envelope from there back home to Wisconsin would arrive in 2 days. That same envelope shipped across town (8 whole miles!) would take 5-7 business days.


More recently, I have noticed that USPS package service is getting slower. I haven't had much problem with things being mis-routed, but now packages tend to sit for days on end and not move. It's like they stuck it in a trailer that never got picked up.

reminds me of the tv story about a letter from california to NM that went on some odd loop for a couple of months.

You should probably contact your local post office about this letter and they should be able to keep a lookout for it on one of its return loops and break the loop and get it delivered to you.

I had a package 2 wks ago that I shipped do the same thing as the OP. Get accepted at my local PO in WA, get all the way to the state the buyer lives in VA, come back to WA and sent back to VA and now is delivered lol. Crazy po these days

Also, I've noticed a lot of packages that get "scanned" as they go through the system, only to have that proof disappear at a later time and for them to show up scanned in completely different places. It's been really bad for that in the last month or so.

I had a package coming in from Japan. It took 24hrs to get from Japan to the United States (Jamaica, NY) it stayed there for 4 days before showing progress.

I get something similar to that for electronic hobbyist parts I order from China. 24 hrs from beijing or whatever to los angeles and then a dead zone for 4-7 days.

I can only suppose in Los Angeles (and Jamaica, NY in your case), maybe the package is being cleared by customs or USPS has some other internal procedures for international mail traffic before they can clear it to be delivered to you.
