Never heard of her, but as an autograph collector this is right up my alley.

Just bought the auto.. Selfishly my priority lies in a gimmicky/limited/oddball autograph acquisition that someday may be relatively rare, even if irrelevant as well, however I do feel good about my money going to a good cause and my heart goes out to her - and more importantly everyone else going through related problems.

With that said, it would be great if she lived to play again but sadly it seems fairly certain that will not happen.

Has anyone ordered one of these cards?

IF so, how was the process?

Ordered mine yesterday from her benefit site, layup4lauren.org I think, $55 shipped. I'll let you know how the rest goes.

Kind of an older style of order form, and you can only pay by credit/debit, no PayPal.

I thought the same thing, and there may be some demand in the future from those that collect everything (just look at some of the oddball Topps stuff that really had little direct relation to major sports, but I opted not to go for it myself. Assuming the worst and likely inevitable, she'll die relatively young and presumably won't have a ton of signatures available to collectors who may seek her signature out, but what will drive the demand later for a signature, other than it being a conversational piece for card collectors. Sadly, this story probably repeats itself over and over for young people hoping to live out their lives only to fall victim to a disease or accident. Most won't get the press or the exposure or the card for that matter, but it is a great way to raise funds for the fight.

Finally got mine today after about 3 and a half weeks.. Unprotected in a thin media mailer with 2 dinged corners.

A bit disappointed with that outcome.. I know the money was for a greater cause but I don't think that makes it ok to treat my card like ****.

I didn't like receiving the card in a thin, cardboard mailer like that either. However, they are just a charitable organization and not card guys like us. If I worked for that organization, I'd personally buy penny sleeves, toploaders and team bags to ship them properly, but then again, I'm a card guy and know the proper way to ship them. Bad luck of the draw on the dinged corners.

RIP Lauren, truly an inspiration and clearly someone who had a massive heart. I think it's safe to say her story has touched everyone who knows of her battle.
