On a side note - they should have included Upton instead of oppo masher Cuddyer for the NL. His swing is tailor made for the HR derby.

Who's "they"?
David Wright, as captain, chose the team, and he's said in multiple interviews that he chose Cuddyer because they're friends from the same area. Wright says he also picked Cuddyer because they, Ryan Zimmerman, Mark Reynolds and a few other local players competed at a charity home run contest and Cuddyer beat them all.
Regardless, several other sluggers should have been chosen ahead of Cuddyer.

Honestly, I didn't read that deep into the selections. Cuddyer is the man, don't sell him short.
