good morning.
huge day in Canada. A W and we celebrate, and a L and the entire Olympics will be for not and nothing else will matter and Canada will sink into oblivion.

I'm also stuck at work for the game :evil:
but at least I can stream it.

Good morning Jesse! What's the big deal over the Canadian women's hockey team (Congrats, by the way!) celebrating the victory in the gold medal game? If I had trained most of my life for that moment, I'd be celebrating like crazy too!

they were dumb enough to do it about 30 mins after the game, with the media still there, and 1 was underage, although she is legal in her province, and she turns 19 in a month.

I posted the pics on friday I think. It was pretty funny I thought.

an editorial about this week:

When they weren't answering for being really good, after all those blowout victories, they were answering for being really real, which is what that celebration after beating the Americans was truly all about.

If a men's team breaks out the brews and cigars at centre ice and halfheartedly tries to hijack the Zamboni, they probably get a beer ad.

The women do it, despite the fact that the fans had been cleared out of the building and much of the media was still in the bowels of the rink doing interviews, and people like IOC bigwig Gilbert Felli get bent out of shape.

Felli got a call Thursday night from The Associated Press when some pictures of the Canadian players letting loose landed on an editor's desk and said: "It is not what we want to see. I don't think it's a good promotion of sport values. If they celebrate in the changing room, that's one thing, but not in public. We will investigate what happened."

Hockey Canada sent out a statement apologizing. The IOC has softened Felli's stance since then. And he's been largely lambasted for his comments in the media.

Still, at a press conference on Friday, the handful of players there representing the squad was asked about being role models and what kind of message those pictures sent.

IMO: If it were the canadian mens team or any other mens hockey team celebrating like they did after the win it would have been no big deal. Since it was women, and usually does not happen it does not look right. Who cares, they won!! Let them have their fun!!

i agree 100%...i hate it that most of the articles i read were about it being rigged and what not...its not their fault they are that good and the others team just arent
(im also in favor of scoring as many goals as you want...if you want to win 100-0 go for it)

ps did you get my pm about that "special" lofton card you spoke of yesterday?
