Good morning guys. I hope everyone has a great day.

Art- Congrats on the new addition! She's a beauty.

Quick check in for me at the moment. About to go tackle the deathmill.

Today is the Week 6 weigh in. Dropped another 2 pounds which makes 22 pounds total.

Hey congrats on the weight loss. I just started trying to lose weight as well. I lost 9 pounds in my first week but then only lost 3 pounds in my second week which is really fustrating I really thought I had lost maybe 6 total this week. So I have lost 11 pounds so far in 14 days I guess that is good but I have like 60 more to go so it does not feel like much of a accomplishment

Thank you! Congrats to you as well!

Don't let it get you down. Just focus on smaller numbers to start. You're down 11, so start focusing on reaching 15 or even 20. Don't just concentrate on your goal number. That makes it seem like a daunting task.

My goal is to lose 120 pounds to start. I may even want to go further than that. Instead of focusing on the big number of 120, I go by fives and tens. Now that I am at 22, I'm counting down to 25. When I hit 25, I'll be counting down to 30. It helps me a lot to stay focused on the smaller goals than looking at what I still have to go for my overall goal.

3-4 lbs of weight loss per week is healthy and normal.

Thanks muskiesfan I will try that. I think I kinda mind F'ed myself thisweek because i was telling myself I would have a free day every time I lost 15 pounds and I really thought I would get to it today but oh well I guess. I guess I had about 9 years worth of free days that got me into this mess lol.

You're welcome.

You didn't get to where you are overnight and you're not going to get to where you want overnight. There's nothing wrong with having a free day (I call it Reward Day). I use a website and iPhone app called My Fitness Pal, website is www.myfitnesspal.com. It's 100% free. You enter in your information (age, height, weight, goal weight, activity level) and it gives you a daily calorie goal. You enter in everything you eat and drink throughout the day and it calculates how many calories you have taken in and how many you have left. It is designed to help you lose weight without even exercising. Just stay under your calorie goal.

You can enter in exercise and the calories burned doing the exercise and it subtracts it from your daily goal and gives you your net calories for the day. So if it gave you a goal of 2500 calories a day and you burned 200 calories exercising, you would actually be able to eat 2700 calories a day and still be under goal because you earned 200 calories in exercise.

I hope that makes sense. If I can help in any way, just let me know.

Hey I use that app as well! My wife showed it to me. I always look forward to the silly little messages about logging in for 5 or 10 days makes me feel like I am sticky to it this time lol

Awesome. Feel free to add me if you want. My screen name is muskiesfan there are well.

I'm no expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I have had 2 Reward Days in 6 weeks. Both times, I still logged my calories and went 700-800 calories over both times. Still had a good loss both weeks. From everything I have read, a Reward Day (cheat day, spike day, free day, whatever you want to call it) is good because it shocks the metabolism. It prevents your metabolism from getting too used to everything. It's supposed to help prevent a plateau.

Michael- Thank you! With the Morning Thread being such a tight group, the support is excellent. I enjoy sharing my success, but I always look forward to hearing everyone else's. Your app sounds just about the same. MFP has a message board as well that I read and post on. Not that you want or need to or anything, but My Fitness Pal has an Android app as well.

I'll have to look it up. my only complaint with mine is the exercise breakdown. it's very vague with times, and actual work done. hows yours?
