George, the booklet is way overpriced IMO. Still it's a nice piece.
Yes, but there is a BO option.......plus the high opening has scared bidders away......no offers yet.
Nice Trout Pete!
I live not far, in fact a couple hundred yards from a Class A Trout stream, and haven't wet a line in the river this year. Now that the house I bought is occupied, I will have some time this week to go fishing. I still have to hang some rain gutter, and power wash the house and re-stain the deck.
Good morning guys. I hope everyone has a great day.
George- That Thorpe is incredible! You need to get that.
Paul- Very cool to get that for Dave. Awesome card.
Had a great weekend. The Pacquiao fight was ridiculous and the Reds didn't do as well as I had hoped, but neither put a damper on anything.
Saturday, I got a text from a family friend about baseball cards. A friend of hers here in Indy was giving away his baseball card collection. So I traded some emails with him and then went and met him yesterday. He said it was about 10,000 cards, but it actually turned out to be right around 17,000. Nothing major, the overwhelming majority is base cards. Mostly 80's with some 90's and newer cards mixed in. There are some 79's here and there as well.
I've been going through pulling the Reds and Dunns. I've gained a few more for the BP collection. All of the 2000-now cards will get donated to the Children's Hospital. Everything else is too old because they don't like cards that have been handled much around the children. So everything before 2000 will be staying.
He obviously cherry picked a few things, but I have found a couple 89 Griffey RCs, as well as a bunch of other rookies like Randy Johnson, Gary Sheffield, Frank Thomas, Tom Glavine, and so on. A lot of big names are still in the 80's and 90's cards like Ripken, Gwynn, Boggs, Canseco, McGwire, Grace, Sosa, Thomas, Maddux, Seaver, Jackson, Schmidt, Mattingly etc.
After I finish picking out the Reds stuff for myself and the newer stuff for the kids, I am going to go back through and sort the stuff that is staying by player and team lots.
Joe, what 80's sets did you get?
Lol! Sounds like you have your hands full trying to get it all organized. If you run into Topps 1980-83, and 86, I have some random cards to complete my sets that I started as a kid.No actual sets, just loose base. I could probably get close to making complete sets of 86 Topps, 89 Fleer, and 84 Topps. I could probably get closer on other sets as well, but those 3 stick out in my mind because I went through a ton of them.
I came across a stack of 1987 Topps and was curious to see who all was in it. It was a stack of 38 Don Mattinglys. There are plenty of other 87's as well, but I was not expecting one giant stack of just one player.
