Ralph- Holy XXXX! I would have needed a new pair of pants after seeing that. Great pics, but more importantly, glad you didn't get hurt or anything.
Alex (s)- Congrats! Well deserved for you. I am very happy that card ended up in your collection.
Andrew- I read a couple of the The Hardy's when I was in school. I remember doing a couple of book reports on them. I don't remember much else about them though. :lol:

Well, the reason I asked is that I got a steal of a deal from an online bookseller.
A little background. For those of us who religiously read the Hardy Boys books, we remember that the author of the books was an enigmatic figure named Franklin W. Dixon. Years ago, I found out that Franklin W. Dixon was, indeed, a pseudonym. The real author of the books was a man named Leslie McFarlane who passed away a few years ago. He wrote an autobiography called "Ghost of the Hardy Boys" which told the story of his life and the writing process. I checked that book out of the library a couple years ago, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I began to look for a signed copy of it and discovered that it was pretty much nonexistent. Not only that, but UNSIGNED collectable copies were unbelievably hard to find, routinely running at close to $100.
Fast forward to a few days ago. Received a tip from a bookbroker (might as well say crackdealer) that there was a SIGNED presentation copy available. The kicker? Only $75!
To put it in context, the VERY few McFarlane signed Hardy Boys books I have ever seen have gone for $300-400. This one is probably among the Top 5 in terms of rarity in my collection now.
So, after building it up to ridiculously unattainable heights, here 'tis:

Andrew- That is friggin awesome! Congrats! Thank you for the background as well. My step dad is a huge Hardy Boys fan. I believe he has a first edition of all of the books. I'll have to show him this sometime, he'll love it.

Good Morning men
another rough night.. my middle daughter got caught by the bug and was sick all night. Because I work in the afternoon its my duty to stay up with them in my wife's eye. To me its part of parenting and who needs sleep anyway? Plenty of time to sleep when your dead! She seems to be a bit better this morning but now the question is Goldberg style... WHO"S NEXT???

If she needs her beauty rest to get up for work in the morning she can have it... I've somehow adapted to function on little sleep ever since I started working 2nd shift and having children. When my girls are grown they will remember all the good and bad times that daddy was there for and thats all that really matters. I don't ever complain I do it all out of love for my family

I totally agree.. I see alot of kids that my girls go to school with that have parents that are happy to bring them to school just to have their own personal time back. Why have kids if you cannot or do not want the responsibility that goes with it? I can't imagine my life without my girls.. they have made me a better man!
