Leaf has asked for their own forum on this site. The forum is to be publicly viewable and postable. It will be moderataed ONLY by leaf staff, and the rest of the FCB mods including me will not be mods in that particular forum.

Thoughts?

I think you should kindly decline and make Leaf open their own site. This will leave you out of ANY kind of shadiness that might go on or just plain straight up arguments. Not only that, this is YOUR site, and you could ultimately be deemed responsible by proxy by the general public.

I am going to be honest, I don't see the need for it.

Can it at least be moved to the bottom of the page? It's kind of an eyesore at the top.

Small mailday...

I bought a 2000 New York Giants team photo. I believe it's reproduced but it doesn't matter to me all that much.

Also bought a Graig Nettles bat card from Zack. He included a Liriano gu card and a few perkins cards. Thanks!

Chris- I think there would have to be some serious gain of some sort (monetary or otherwise) for you to accept something like that. Whether it's money from Leaf or just through a major increase in traffic to the site; and even then I would think long and hard about something like that. It seems like it may be asking for more trouble than it would be worth, especially with how much XXXX already goes on with BG and certain members here.

Giving someone with a history of not being able to separate themselves professionally from personally the ability to delete threads not going their way? Seems legit.

Honestly - would further the idea that Leaf is the one in control of FCB. If he's looking for a way to get ideas, then he needs to do it in his own open forum... I.E. conference skypes.

I really don't care what the perception of who is in control is. The thought that I am in control is just as laffable as saying anyone is in "control" of this mess. He called and asked for this and it will keep the leaf mess out of the baseball forum where you can avoid the mess if you want.

It will probably result in more traffic though, as they will be using it as their only means of customer support.

Chris,

I think if it will bring more traffic and you are clear of any possible legal disputes (I really can't think of any, basically protect your own ass), I'm all for it. I know there are many members here (not really myself, I get a kick out of them) who are fed up with Leaf threads solely based on how they turn out.

If there's something for you and the site to gain, then do it.

There isn't anything going on that could get me in any legal issues with anyone.

I know that Chris and BG have this partnership that GMo seems to really enjoy. At what point - though - does it make people feel less likely to speak freely and honestly about how they feel, because they know they are slapping the hand of someone the site is in bed with.
A lot of people came here for the ability to say what they felt, no matter how outrageous, and not be turned into a pariah. It's great hat Bg wants to interact, but it really feels like FCB is on the fast-track for becoming The Official LEAF Forums, and -as much as I enjoy Gilmore at the helm - I don't think he majority of peopl ehere want to feel like they were made a company's populous by means of annexation.

Brian and I are friends, and that's pretty much it.

I do not take anything anyone says about his company personal, nor does it offend me even if I disagree.

I have seen many things that they produce be complete crap, and I have said as much. I do not however beat dead horses and continue to bring it up.

Leaf is not paying for this forum, the only thing I get out of it is the added traffic it may bring.

Also, BG has said on a few occasions that people who don't buy his product but still voice their opinions are flies - as though their opinion on sportscards are null due to them not being a buyer of a specific brand. He often states how non-Leaf customers have little weight with their opinions. It seems a bit like BG is interested in only his active buyers, once again making me wonder why he doesn't just use his own site. Is he really expecting other large forums (like BO) to saunter on over to FCB just so they can interact with him?

Hell no.

How are you going to ask for advice, then come back with this kind of answer? Doesn't make sense to me.

Just remember, MORE traffic, doesn't mean GOOD traffic. Take that for it's weight in 1's and 0's but I offered my opinion.

Pro:

- May bring traffic

Cons:

- Will not likely bring traffic from boards that have long disregarded FCB.
- Will possibly turn off other board's members to LEAF for seeming to give that consideration for FCB.
- If that forum turns into a "Flies mean nothing to me" thread delete-fest, then the complaining will spill back into the main forums.
- People getting threads deleted in that forum may turn them off to FCB.
