Looks like the Red Sox are busy trying to make some moves. Not liking what I am reading.

I'm torn on the whole matter. I hate when the Sox sign huge long term deals....the player almost never lives up to the contract. On the other hand Gonzalez will be a tough player to replace, ESPECIALLY his glove.

If a trade does go through, I will be happy we are dumping a lot of salary and getting back a handful of prospects.

Gonzalez - I will certainly miss him, but don't really want him on the team for seven years so if we can get some top prospects that's ok with me.
Beckett - Won't miss him in the slightest, but he definitely was a HUGE part of our 07' season.
Crawford - Neutral on him, don't care either way. I think he is going to have a great season next year when he is fully healthy. Even with his torn elbow he played decent enough this season.
Punto - Awful bat, but he has a really good glove at multiple positions. Ciriaco is the exact opposite and will arguably be taking over Puntos infield utility spot.


I feel like this trade kind of needs to happen after this disaster of a season. Cut the big contracts, free up payroll and let the young guys play. Maybe they are freeing up money to sign Ellsbury long term??
